MYTH: People experiencing homelessness should "just get a job." REALITY: Securing employment is a complex challenge for those without stable housing. Barriers include lack of access to basic necessities like clean clothes, hygiene facilities, transportation, and a permanent address. Additionally, factors such as learning disabilities or limited education can further complicate job searches. Even when employed, low wages often fail to cover basic living expenses. #HousingAndEmployment #BreakingBarriers #StableHousingMatters #JobsForAll #EndHousingInsecurity #HousingForAll #CompassionInAction #CommunitySupport #HomesNotStreets #TogetherWeCan #SafeShelter #BuildCommunities #EndPovertyNow #HomesForEveryone #CommunityCare #TogetherForChange #CompassionateCommunity #ShelterForAll #EndingInsecurity #HopeAndHomes #FightForHousing #CommunityOverCrisis Photo by Tima Miroshnichenko

It's time to break the stigma and recognize that homelessness can affect anyone, no matter their employment status. Let's stand together to support those who are working hard to rebuild their lives, but need our help to make that possible. Sad fact to mark the first day of Homelessness Week. Rates of homelessness have doubled among our financial counselling clients in the last 5 years. Most recent Census data 2021 says 9,700 Western Australians are experiencing homelessness. Unfortunately, we estimate that number to be much larger today. In the midst of a housing crisis, with lack of supply and affordability of accommodation options, the Financial Wellbeing Collective are seeing an increasing number of Western Australian’s vulnerable to homelessness. #HW2024 #homelessness #housinginstabilty #housinginsecurity #housingcrisis

With an estimated 309,000 people in England experiencing homelessness at last count, it is safe to say we still have a significant issue with providing stable housing for all as a nation. Urban areas such as London are the worst offenders, with homelessness rates at their highest across the capital, yet elsewhere the statistics are only a little better. The number of rough sleepers in England rose by 26% compared with the previous year, but could integrating technology with care help improve the circumstances of those with no fixed abode? https://buff.ly/3AEFAYF #technology #homelessness #care #support #housingforall #ECCO #ECCOSolutions

"Why Don’t They Just Get a Job?" It's a question many of us have asked when we see someone struggling with homelessness. With "Help Wanted" signs everywhere, it seems like jobs should be easy to find, right? But for people living on the streets, the road to employment is filled with roadblocks: No fixed address for job applications No phone or email to get call-backs No clean clothes or shower access for interviews Gaps in work history and sometimes a criminal record for minor offenses No transportation, no driver’s license, no ID documents And most of all: the stigma of homelessness itself. At Vita Nova Village, we’re committed to removing these barriers, offering real pathways to employment, self-sufficiency, and a livable wage for those who want to work but just need a chance. If you’re passionate about lifting others up and believe in second chances, we need your support. Together, we can provide the tools, resources, and opportunities that are so often out of reach for people experiencing homelessness. Let’s make a difference. Support Vita Nova Village today and be part of the solution. #AffordableHousing #SecondChances #EndHomelessness #LivableWage #SupportVitaNovaVillage www.vitanovavillage.org
