Lai Chong AU, one of our co-founders, finds every opportunity to talk about impact investing in her network. At the Golden Age Expo & Summit 2024, she moderated a session about impact investing in #SilverMarket and #SmartAging. This is an area where she (and the whole Second Stage team) sees lots of market potential. The complexity of an aging population requires the collaboration of both public, social and private sectors. Investors is for sure a stakeholder. How do we #mobilise financial capital to scale the development and innovation of product and services given 1 in 3 person will be aged over 60 in coming years?

Wow. That's the only word I can think of to describe this year's ImpactPHL Total Impact Summit (https://lnkd.in/ecaV8bSt). I am somewhat of an outlier at the event, which supports impact investors, fund managers, foundation and nonprofit leaders to learn from one another and build community. I attend every year to get to get an annual dose of optimism with integrity from some of the people who control money. This year did not disappoint! In my experience, it's pretty unusual to see an opening plenary to a room full of financial professionals discuss how important it is to be transformed internally in order to change what's happening out in the world. Or, to see a closing panel that challenges everyone in the room to confront their own power and how it can be exploitative. Many of the conversations in between were equally as inspiring, motivating, and hard. Super grateful for the realness of that. If you aren't following what Cory Donovan and his team are doing, check them out. #impactinvesting

Sustainable impact investment fund manager, HNW family advisor, social impact investor, entrepreneur, angel investor, living purpose.
“You are what you do, not what you say you will do.”- Carl Jung “You are what you do, not what you create your social media perception is you do”-me ✅ true #impactinvestors have intentional goals to correct social misalignment by investing capital directly into a strategy that will be successful for the community and the investor. #sharedvalues ✅ the cottege industry developed to exploit #esg with speaking events and social media marketing “make believe” has no value to true #impactinvestors ✅ if you read in social media about any big #WallStreet bank #chiefimpactofficer doing anything except photo opportunities its probably fiction. #communitybankscare ✅ almost all real #impactinvestments are made by individuals and families (not family offices) who have been successful in business, have gratitude for their lives, prudently manage their wealth, compassion for citizens less fortunate, and a vision of a better American future for generations to come. These are Ellavoz.com clients and co-investors and we do #socialimpact #investing while others do lunch and talk.

Where do go to learn what's working in your industry? Deborah Keller is with Impact for Breakfast It’s is an organization working to share best practices in impact investing with its nearly 4,000 members in 35 chapters around the globe. 70% of their members are impact investors. See if there’s a chapter near you or join the online group at https://lnkd.in/gzgCvNy3 Building the connective tissue in an ecosystem is so important but can be a thankless, long-haul job that can be difficult to monetize. Thankfully, Impact for Breakfast was founded and funded by Artha Impact (Rianta Capital) which has insisted on keeping it free to join. Biggest need right now: Impact Investing speakers and experts to share their practical experience. I’m thinking of great speakers like Robert Rubinstein, Natalie Au, Piet Klop, Wilson T., Joakim Von Scheele Fohlman, Karl Yang, Samuel Seongeun Lee, etc. Would love to see a chapter set up in the greater Salt Lake City area - maybe we could pull one together - Sorenson Impact, Skyler Meine, Steven R. Fox, Lindsay Hadley, Maak Impact, Julie Ramos, Brad Dickson, Stephanie Howe, Jeramy Lund, Ron Heffernan
