In an era where digital privacy is paramount, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) stands as a beacon of data protection laws globally. Enacted by the European Union in May 2018, GDPR has set a high standard, influencing similar regulations worldwide. For businesses, GDPR compliance is not just about avoiding hefty fines (up to €20 million or 4% of annual global turnover). It's about building trust through transparency, ensuring data is collected legally, protected from misuse, and respecting individuals' rights over their data.
