Mobile drivers license (mDL ISO 18013) is very limited in scope, yet necessitates expensive deployment of complex ISO 18013 infrastructure. ➡️Sure next MDL version (ISO 18013-7), promises a wider range of applications, including airport security screenings, online logins, and age verification for purchasing restricted goods. ➡️ISO 18013-7 is still way too narrow to justify a dedicate protocol / infrastructure. ➡️ISO 18013 security / privacy is abhorrent, centralized key management only benefits those that sell HSM's, while imposing fraud on the rest of us. Integrators & payment service providers, need do a bottom-up and top-down comparison of mDL (ISO 18013) vs W3C DIDs / VCs. Product managers should lead the discussion, followed by Info-Sec. The protocols for a W3C decentralized approach are mature and production tested open-source is available. #passkeys #IPFS #decentralizedidentity
