Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation 🙌 That's why Evie Gretton recently joined the NCVO's 'Good Practice in Volunteer Management' course, taking away a host of insights we're now looking to put into practice. 💡Developing a volunteer toolkit to ensure our volunteers get all of the support they need. 💡Mapping out a new volunteer onboarding roadmap to make the process as straightforward as possible. 💡Emphasising our flexibility from the start - we understand the diverse challenges volunteers face and want them to feel empowered to join us. Huge thanks to NCVO – these learnings will help us enhance the experience our amazing volunteers deserve. What else can make volunteering more rewarding? Share your thoughts in the comments. ______ Find out more about volunteering with Working Options in Education (which is already an amazing process ... even if we do say so ourselves) here = https://lnkd.in/d3S5AuXZ

"How do you get horticultural careers in front of young people?" is probably one of the most frequently asked questions I've heard in the last years. Careers ambassadors are one of our secret superpowers to bring horticulture into educational settings and raise the profile of careers in this fantastic sector. We know personal contacts with professionals are very often where the magic begins on a young person's journey towards a fulfilling job, and over the last few years we at the RHS have reached about 25,000 students this way. We simply could not do this without the many fantastic colleagues who volunteer to go into schools to talk about their job and how they got there, as even the most efficient careers team can only be in one place at a time - so thank you! 🙌 Inspiring the Future are doing stellar work with individual volunteer ambassadors as well as with organisations looking to grow their future workforce. They support onboarding (including safeguarding) and match volunteers to schools, etc, which is of immense value to organisations aiming to increase their outreach but with limited resource. Whether you yourself would like to share your passion for your job and career, or whether you are in a position where you can enable and support your employees to volunteer this way, register for the free webinar on June 6 to find out more (details in post). #volunteering #volunteersweek #givingback #talentpipeline #careers #greencareers #greenjobs #horticulture #landscaping #foodproduction #growyourown #floristry #gardens #plants #plantjobs

Seeing our teens struggle with confidence can be tough, but there are ways we can help them build it back up. Here are my top 3 confidence-building activities for teens: Setting Achievable Goals: Encouraging teens to set small, attainable goals and celebrating their successes can help build a sense of accomplishment and confidence. Every little win counts! Trying New Hobbies: Whether it’s sports, music, art, or coding, mastering a new skill can be incredibly empowering. CEO, Co-founder, Realized Worth: We design scalable, measurable and meaningful employee volunteer programs.
Most corporate volunteering and giving programs are not working - at least not the way we hope. Here's what I hear on a near-daily basis: 1. We want higher participation rates, but we’re struggling to get people to record their hours. 2. The same people are participating/showing up over and over – we want broader, more diverse participation. 3. Everyone is strapped for time and I'm concerned that I'm asking people to do too much. If you resonate, you're my people. Let's talk! And hey - let's talk in person, in my home city, among some of the smartest people I know! May 1 & 2. Join me in person at Social REV LIVE. https://lnkd.in/dT29D89D

Volunteering is incredibly rewarding if you're dedicated to it. Not only does it help others, but it also teaches you valuable skills and lessons. I've learned so much through my volunteering experiences, and I'm grateful for the connections I've made along the way. I have had the privilege of volunteering with various organizations, including APORAJ as a Content Strategist and Social Media Manager ,WIV ACADEMY as an Assistant State Coordinator, and currently with YALI Network as the General Secretary for #YALINetworkOsun, where I write minutes, reports, and schedule meetings. Remember, learning is essential, and growth is inevitable. You are building yourself every day. Don't stop learning and developing yourself in various aspects of life, including spiritual, professional, marital, emotional, and personal development. Read books, take courses, and listen to podcasts to continue growing and improving. So, what's holding you back from volunteering and starting your own growth journey? Take the first step today and explore volunteer opportunities in your community or online. #Volunteering #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #GrowthMindset #SelfDevelopment #GetInvolved

Community impact focused relationship builder | Connector and Collaborator | Fierce Advocate for Making the World a Better Place
Earlier this month I directed the Variety Show at my 4th grader's elementary school. It's a massive undertaking, but I do it because she loves it and because it is truly amazing to see kids be brave and get up on the big stage at the high school and perform. But it also allows me to hone some really important business skills. 1. Planning and logistics - this one time event requires hours of planning, document review, process implementation etc. 2. Communications Planning - developing a multi phased communications plan which focuses on recruitment, requirements and education 3. Stakeholder engagement - SO MANY STAKEHOLDERS! Parents, teachers, the school district, the tech team and kids. Have you ever had kids as a stakeholder group? There's nothing like it! There were 112 performers, at least that many parents and then all those other groups who had diverse needs and wants. Is this official skill-based volunteering, for sure not, but does it require and build skills needed in the business world, absolutely. Team members who are scout leaders, coaches, PTO board members etc. are all using and honing business skills that will make them and the projects they work on more successful. And for this kind of volunteering, in addition to building business skills, you also get the satisfaction of seeing a kid make a goal or camp for the first time or you get to see a stage full of shining faces singing their hearts out and that makes it priceless!

🌟Reflecting on My Volunteering Journey with ADORE🌟 I’m thrilled to share that I have completed my volunteering journey with ADORE, and what an incredible time it has been! Since March, I have conducted sessions for children in various homes connected with ADORE. Initially, I faced a significant challenge: a language barrier that made it difficult to connect with the children I was teaching. Some children even requested another volunteer. However, as time passed, they began to take an interest in my classes and started to engage more actively. This experience taught me the importance of patience and perseverance in overcoming initial hurdles. Being part of the webinar organizing team was an enriching experience, teaching me the intricacies of event management and giving me the exciting opportunity to host a webinar. This significantly boosted my confidence and enhanced my public speaking skills. I felt more connected and supported with my teammates, learning the value of effective communication and teamwork. ADORE also organized webinars for volunteers on valuable topics. These sessions have been a game-changer for my personal and professional development. Throughout this journey with ADORE, I’ve learned how to manage my time effectively, communicate professionally, and boost my overall confidence. Interacting with introverts during center calling has been particularly rewarding, enriching my communication skills. I am excited to apply these learnings and continue to grow both personally and professionally! 🌟 #volunteering #adore #personalgrowth #learning #networking
