Executive Director | Rail & Transit | Delivery of Major PPP/P3 Infrastructure & Hospitality Projects
Shaping the Future of Rail Across the GCC: I believe the rail and transit sector in the GCC is on the brink of a major transformation. Each country is making bold strides towards a connected future, with rail projects that go beyond just transportation. In the UAE, the expanding Etihad Rail will soon link major cities and integrate with Dubai's metro system, setting the stage for a comprehensive transit network. Saudi Arabia’s high-speed rail projects, such as the Haramain High-Speed Railway, are reshaping intercity travel and paving the way for more extensive high-speed corridors. In Qatar, the Doha Metro extension plans for light rail transit (LRT) are not just enhancing urban mobility but also preparing the country for the future. Oman is advancing with its rail links to the UAE, while Bahrain is working towards a metro system that will form a critical part of its urban development. Even Kuwait is laying the groundwork for its own rail initiatives, aiming to bolster regional connectivity. I think these efforts will redefine how we move around the region. The integration of metro, LRT, freight, and high-speed rail systems is about more than just infrastructure—it's about creating sustainable, economically diverse cities where people and businesses can thrive. As we incorporate smart technologies and data-driven maintenance solutions, I see the GCC's rail networks not only improving connectivity but also setting new benchmarks for sustainability in our unique environment. The question now is how we can keep pushing these projects forward to bring lasting benefits for generations to come. What’s next for the rail sector in our region? #GCCRail #HighSpeedRail #MetroSystems #LightRail #Sustainability #EconomicGrowth #ConnectedCities #FutureOfTransport #UrbanMobility

One of my favorite YouTube channels, "The B1M," has been a game-changer in how we perceive construction projects. Their mission is " is to fundamentally change the perception of construction on planet Earth", and they're for sure doing so! 🌍 Their captivating stories are mind-blowing and pushes you to redefine the concept of 'Thinking Big' and extend your vision beyond the usual timelines. If you haven't discovered them yet, I highly recommend checking them out. https://lnkd.in/e9PuYKvM Now, why am I bringing them up? cause, two years ago, they featured "The $100BN Railway in the Desert." 🚄 One of the world's most ambitious construction project, located right in the heart of the desert. A 2000+ kilometers railway, uniting six Middle Eastern countries, cutting through deserts and mountains. The challenges are as immense as the project's price tag - $100 billion. 🏗️💰 Etihad Rail, announced in 2009, has made remarkable progress. A 264-km rail line that connects the Shah and Habshan gas fields to the Ruways export terminal had been operating and transporting up to 12 million tons of granulated sulfur per year. and on January 25th a milestone was achieved with the first passenger journey between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah On January 25th, a milestone was achieved with Etihad Rail commencing the first passenger taking place between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah, 250km west of the capital . This marks a new era in regional connectivity and dynamics, and significant millstone on the 1,200-km network connecting the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia which is expected to finish by 2029🚆 "Visionaries start with a clean sheet of paper, and re-imagine the world." – Malcolm Gladwell #ConstructionInnovation #TheB1M #EtihadRail #Infrastructure #FutureOfTransport #SustainableDevelopment #unitedarabemirates #abudhabi
