Participants of the “Outcrop Tour of Formations of Interest for Geologic Carbon Sequestration” field trip — held in conjunction with this week’s Geophysical Research for Gigatonnes CO2 Storage workshop — were led yesterday by leaders Karen Lechtenberg, ARI; and Chris Cassle and Matt Hess both of Carbon American. Areas toured were Red Rocks Amphitheater, Lyons Formation, Dakota Hogback, and the Colorado School of Mines Green Center.

Elastic #anisotropy is widely recognized as a typical feature of #sedimentary formations, has a strong influence on #seismic velocities and amplitudes. For example, the difference between stacking and vertical velocity in anisotropic media most commonly is the reason for misties in #time-to-depth conversion. This intermediate level, two-day course provides the necessary background information regarding #anisotropic #wave propagation and discusses #modeling, #inversion, and processing of seismic #reflection data in the presence of anisotropy. [SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium and IMAGE’24] I would like to share my most valuable experience of being selected as one of 50 students to represent the SEG Universitas Indonesia - Student Chapter at the SEG/Chevron Student Leadership Symposium and IMAGE 2024 in Houston, Texas, United States, from August 24-30, 2024 I am deeply grateful and thankful to SEG and Chevron for providing us with this wonderful opportunity, allowing us to meet incredible people; Tony Lupo, Carl Steffensen, Maria Malhaire-Tatanova, Ph.D., and Phil Neri who gave me motivation and valuable insights. I also want to extend my thanks to Annabella Betancourt, Jessica Dostal, Sarah Castro, Pallavi Bharadwaj, and others, who guided and directed this event in an exceptional and unforgettable manner. My first IMAGE…what an experience. ✔️ I successfully presented and completed the Energy Exploration SEG EVOLVE journey as a geophysicist on the Cooper Basin Geothermal team at the University of Houston 👏🏻! ✔️ I met so many amazing people and learned more about opportunities I was interested in as well as new ones 🙌🏻! ✔️ I asked people questions about inclusivity in the work place that are very important to me in the world of energy. 🌎🤝 ✔️ I got to learn more about the work put in behind the scenes at SEG and really appreciate what this organization has been able to provide me. ✔️ I got to connect faces to names of people that I had only spoken to online! 💻 ✔️ I got to meet other student chapter presidents and learn about different experiences and events that people organize 📝 ✔️Also…I got to take a puppy out during a surprise fire alarm 🐶 Overall, I am so grateful to SEG for providing me the opportunity to attend the IMAGE ‘24 conference this year. Being able to see people from all around the world gather in one place to discuss a wide variety of interesting geoscience topics is truly an amazing thing to see and be a part of.
