I am thrilled to share that I have graduated as an Operations Research Engineer with a specialization in Optimization and Strategic Management. During my studies, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with the National Company of Geophysics (E.NA.GEO) ENAGEO / SONATRACH for three months. 📊 Project Highlight: My final project, titled "Ranking Project Using Multicriteria Decision Making Techniques", introduced a new approach for calculating the weights of criteria using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. This innovative technique was applied to improve decision-making processes within the company . 🌟 Key Learnings and Skills: Multicriteria Decision Making (MCDM) Techniques Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) Methods Data Analysis and Optimization Practical experience in the geophysics industry I am grateful for the support and mentorship provided by E.NA.GEO during my internship. 🌍 The Chronicles of the internship Journey Thrilled to share my journey with you all as I embark on a new role within the SEG Evolve exploration program this year! 🚀 Initially slated as a geologist, fate had other plans, and I've transitioned into the pivotal role of Carbon Mitigation Lead. 🌍💡 In this role, I'm spearheading efforts to integrate cutting-edge solutions for carbon mitigation into our exploration strategies. From analyzing regional geology and basin tectonics to crafting innovative approaches for sustainable petroleum exploration, it's been an exhilarating journey so far. 💡 Over the past few weeks, I've been diving deep into various aspects of our integrated study, immersing myself in understanding the regional geology and framework, basin tectonics, structural framework, and the intricate workings of the petroleum system. CHRONICLES OF MY SEG EVOLVE ENERGY EXPLORATION PROGRAM: " Challenges in Working with Biostratigraphic Data" Paleo has been around since the 1890s (Ryan Weber). It provides the primary framework for regional stratigraphy in the expanded passive margins like the Gulf of Mexico and the Niger Delta basins. Paleo Tops are typically posted on logs and seismic as a basis for correlation and trend evaluation. Most importantly, inconsistencies/discrepancies with well-picks can negatively affect your structural maps. Also, accurate correlation makes a difference when you are trying to create a reservoir model and calculate what your volumetrics would be. However, working with this data from different sources has been quite challenging. But, according to Joshua J. Marine: "Challenges are what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful". Ryan Weber pointed out 3 key challenges that can be faced when working with Paleo data during his talk last Thursday. These key challenges include: 1️⃣ Same name, different taxa as a result of taxa-naming differences among individuals or companies. 2️⃣ Different names, same taxa because naming conventions have changed over time. 3️⃣ Most times, the government adjusts the interpretation to fit into their framework. At the end of the session, Ryan Weber revealed 3️⃣ SIMPLE STEPS FOR CORRELATING FROM SUMMARY DATA (I will be applying this too! ☺️) STEP 1️⃣: Find the major age changes in each well. Hypothesize the geologic phenomenon that may cause these major age changes. E.g condensation, faults or unconformity? STEP 2️⃣: Compare the age jumps (changes) between the wells and make correlations. STEP 3️⃣: Draw a possible correlation model (use graph paper if necessary). In summary: 1️⃣ Applied biostratigraphy is NOT Rocket Science! You can do it! 2️⃣ Be Consistent with your picks! Stephanie advocates for this ☺️ 3️⃣ Consult experts if comparing data sets from different providers. 4️⃣ Follow the log signatures, and don't be biased by the Paleo data!
