#Landscape restoration faces numerous challenges. Much as Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) can help to restore degraded slopes and hills, like Bunana hill in Manafwa District. Population pressure in search for #agriculture land has become a major challenge to #FMNR practices. The community are aware of the Soil and Water Conservation (SWC) Measures through the training that #AidEnvironment, and Partners #IUCN, District Local Government and #Ministry of Water and Environment. Through the project Supporting community in implementing priority catchment management measures in the Lwakhakha subcatchment in the district of #Tororo, #Manafwa and #Namisindwa.

Collaborative initiatives are instrumental in addressing #water conservation amidst alarming statistics. Recent #reports indicate that the country's major reservoirs and river basins have experienced a decline in water storage, albeit less severe compared to the #average recorded over the past #decade. #Bengaluru's acute water scarcity has garnered significant attention, with #Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighting a shortfall of 500 million liters per day, roughly one-fifth of the city's daily demand. Restoring landscapes has become crucial for sustainable development, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The vision is to transform degraded landscapes from poverty-stricken areas with shrinking soil fertility and #biodiversity into ecologically diverse but, at the same time, productive regions with high climate #resilience. Gazetted forests encroachment had been a challenge in most regions of Kenya.Neighbouring communities have been interfering with forests lands for settlement, firewood, farming and grazing.Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation came in over three decades ago to help in protecting gazetted forests.NTZDC adopted a tea buffer technique to separate households from forest land.They plant tea as buffer to help the communuties have a reliable source of livelihood and keep off forests land.Tea plantations have created all form of employment to the neighbor communities.About 98% jobs are set aside for the neighbor communities.
