"The first topic was self-esteem, which encouraged me a lot. I understood that I needed to make changes in my personal life to be able to help my family...I thank Self-Help International and the Women’s Empowerment Program for the support I have received from training, donations and loans, because in this way I have been able to help my family without having to emigrate to another country. For that reason I ask that the Women’s Empowerment Program be extended by making other women aware.” Nora, a client of SHI Women Empowerment Program. This year Self-Help was able to assist more than 886 women within our partner communities in Ghana and Nicaragua. These women receive business training and support along with micro-credit loans to be successful in their endeavors. Your support plays a pivotal role in empowering women like Nora so that she has the tools need to provide for her children and family. To read Nora's full story here: https://lght.ly/8e8cmin

Check out this great article that highlights a speech from Grace Marfo, Project Officer for SHI Teen Girls Club, during the recent International Day of a Girl Child Conference. SHI collaborated with the Rosemond Foundation to host 300 teen girls selected from several rural communities in Ashanti Region to attend an all day conference. https://lght.ly/boe67f4 Picture#1 - Teen Girls Club staff demonstrating how to use reusable sanitation pads during the conference. As we celebrated the World Food Prize 2023 last week, Self-Help International reflects on the research and knowledge from past laureates which has guided our mission of helping people help themselves. One such lesson is the importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days.
