Our editor of Short Term Rentals Paul Stevens and editor of hospitality Eloise Hanson - headed to the Travolution.com conference today in London. Some key takeaways included:- "Measure outcomes, not outputs… it’s all about delivering value.” Stuart Cotterell, COO, Traveltek Ltd. Maggie Bazemore, knowledge management director, Mr & Mrs Smith discussed how hotel payment policies have shifted post-covid. Guests are often not required to pre-pay upfront (usually a deposit with payment on arrival) which offers flexibility. Instalment options such as Klarna, which Mr and Mrs Smith now offer, haven't taken off as anticipated because of the flexibility in payment options. Peter Gerstle from Collinson discussed the commonalities between loyalty and payments. Payments sit at the intersection of customer and brand, capturing important data sets. Payments therefore generate insights and loyalty programs help the brands to utilise these insights.
