SELFRIDGES VOLUNTEERING MONTH IN ACTION 💛 This month, #TeamSelfridges are busy using their paid volunteering days to help our local communities live brighter. Our Fraud and Financial Crime team last week lent a helping hand to the Penfold Community Hub in London, which offers accessible activities, as well as advice and information, to residents in Westminster aged over 50. The team spent the afternoon weeding flower beds and planting new plants in Penfold Community Hub’s communal garden, making it a beautiful space for its community members. Well done to the Fraud and Financial Crime team - and we can’t wait to see more of #TeamSelfridges getting stuck into our Volunteering Month! For his love initiave Volunteering during wars and crises is crucial for providing immediate support to those affected. Volunteers offer essential services such as food, medical aid, and shelter, helping to alleviate suffering in dire situations. Their efforts can foster resilience and hope within communities facing devastation. Additionally, volunteering in such times promotes solidarity and unity among people, demonstrating the power of collective action. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of displaced people. we distributed 1,000 sandwiches to people who left their homes and took the road, 35 loaves of bread for two schools, 36 pieces of clothing. Accordingly, the total amount of aid provided by individual initiative becomes 1,604. Thanks to everyone that contributed in making this work possible.🤍

There's a fascinating CSR trend emerging: The rise of Volunteer Acts of Kindness (VAOK) 🤲 These acts, like helping a neighbor with their groceries or tutoring a student, represent a shift towards more accessible, everyday forms of volunteering that aren’t tied to a specific nonprofit. According to our 2024 State of Corporate Volunteering report, VAOKs are breaking down traditional barriers to volunteering and now make up 35% of all volunteer hours! 🤔 Want more corporate volunteering insights? In the age of reskilling and upskilling, I want to emphasize the point mentioned to remind everyone to take advantage of any opportunities with employee groups, employee resource groups or councils. Especially, if you can earn a volunteer incentive for the time. 📖Check out the report. Insightful Sona Khosla

I equip executive leaders held back by hidden patterns draining their success and energy to achieve rapid performance gains that get them noticed by decision-makers without sacrificing well-being or relying on willpower.
The Therapeutic Power of Volunteering: Spreading Joy and Healing. When I'm not helping clients transform their lives, you can find me giving back to my community through volunteering. Why I Love Volunteering. 💡 It's not just about lending a hand, it's an act of self-care and personal growth. Volunteering has been a game-changer for me, offering: 1. Improved mental well-being. 2. A sense of purpose and fulfillment. 3. Opportunities to meet like-minded individuals. Volunteering is also therapeutic! Research shows that volunteering can be particularly beneficial for those who've experienced trauma. By serving others, individuals can: 📍Regain a sense of control and empowerment. 📍Find healthy distractions from painful memories. 📍Develop a renewed sense of self-worth. Consider volunteering this weekend, operate in a higher energetic vibration, and discover the joy of giving back. PS. Have you volunteered before? What was your experience like? Employee Experience, Culture, Wellbeing, DEIB & Communications Leader, HR Most Influential Top Practitioner of 2023, Purpose Coalition Advisory Council Member and RSPCA volunteer.
Giving back and volunteering create powerful ripples beyond individual lives, strengthening communities and making the world a better place. When we volunteer our time and resources, we bridge gaps, offer hope, and create positive change where it's needed most. Whether it’s mentoring a young person, supporting a local charity, or lending a hand at a community event, every effort counts. Volunteering isn't just about helping others; it’s about growing together, building empathy, and realising the collective impact we can make. In a world that often feels divided, giving back reminds us that kindness, generosity, and connection are what truly bind us. Let's all find ways to contribute and make a lasting difference. If you're interested in joining me & the team at RSPCA Warrington, Halton & St Helens Branch, volunteering your skills in graphic design, event planning, social media, admin, etc., let us know! Together, we can make a difference.
