Get your energy pumping, it's Wattage Wednesday! Continuing on our journey of exploring next generation reactors, today we will be looking at X-Energy’s Xe-100. The Xe-100 is an 80 megawatt small modular reactor designed by X-energy using high temperature gas-cooled reactor technology. Its modular design allows units to be combined into a 320 megawatt "four-pack" power plant to match energy needs. The Xe-100 aims to make nuclear power more accessible through flexible scaling, ease of transportation and on-site deployment. Key features like online refueling capability target 95% plant availability. Safety is also emphasized with robust encapsulated fuel and a 400 meter walk-away proof perimeter. Scalability, safety and economics make the Xe-100 an advanced, accessible nuclear option.
