Migration Tasmania - 2024-25 State Nomination Program 1 August 2024: New Opportunities and Changes in Skilled Migration Program The 2024-25 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will open for Registrations of Interest (ROIs) at 12 pm on 1 August 2024. This year's program introduces new eligibility criteria, policy updates, and a revised fee structure. Key changes include modifications to priority attributes, with the introduction of an "orange-plus" category, and an expansion of the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List (TOSOL) by adding 18 new occupation groups. The application fee has increased to $360 (plus GST), but there is no cost to submit an ROI. The program will prioritize candidates with "orange-plus" attributes for nomination and continues to accept all occupations listed under the Australian Government's subclass 190 and 491 lists. Detailed guidance on the new criteria, including critical roles and employment eligibility, is available on the Migration Tasmania website. Applications invited before the changes will be processed under the old rules, while new ROIs will follow the updated guidelines starting August 1, 2024. Source:https://lnkd.in/gJhh-U2W

𝐖𝐀 𝐍𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐖𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 Western Australia (WA) stands out as the only state in Australia that explicitly prioritizes its residents in their ranking system for state nomination. Interstate and international applicants are ranked equally, but they follow WA residents. Both the General and Graduate Streams run parallel, each with its own ranking system. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬: - 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 WA Allocation Quota: WA holds the third highest allocation quota for state nominations, around 15% of the total, after Victoria (VIC) and New South Wales (NSW). - 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 (𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐋 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝟏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐) Bulk of Invites: The majority of invitations are issued from this stream, focusing on a wide range of occupations. 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: - Priority for WA Residents - Higher Priority: For any given occupation, invitations will only be extended to interstate or overseas applicants if there are no more applicants with WA residency. - Example: An Electrical Engineer with 65 points living in WA has higher priority over an interstate or offshore Electrical Engineer with 110 points aiming for WA. This demonstrates the significant advantage WA residents have in the nomination process. 𝐎𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: Moving to WA Edge for Onshore Applicants: Relocating to WA gives a substantial advantage to onshore applicants. Increased Pool of WA Residents: By increasing the pool of WA residents, onshore applicants can significantly reduce the chances for interstate or overseas applicants for almost all non-priority occupations. Trend Evidence: This trend is evident in the WA invite data, where the majority of nominations are given to current WA residents. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: - Dominance of WA Residents: The vast majority of WA State Nomination invitations are consumed by onshore WA residents. - Comparison with TAS: Tasmania (TAS) follows closely in prioritizing onshore applicants but has a smaller allocation. - Balanced Mix in Other States: Most other states issue a more balanced mix of onshore and offshore invitations. 2023-24 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program Update. Closed to further registrations of interest. The 2023-24 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now closed to new Registrations of Interest (ROI). If you have been invited to submit an application for nomination but you have not yet lodged, you can continue to do so before the invitation expiry date. No further invitations to apply for nomination will be issued this program year. Migration Tasmania will continue to assess applications for nomination that have been lodged but not yet decided, however only few nomination places remain and so not all applicants will be nominated this program year. Once all nomination places are used, any applications that are approved will be nominated after Tasmania receives its nomination allocation for the 2024-25 program year. ROIs that have been allocated a green or gold pass will continue to be held in the Application Gateway and considered for an invitation to apply for nomination when the 2024-25 program opens. Information on the 2024-25 program will be published on this website and in our newsletter when it becomes available. If you have any questions about the program, your ROI or your application for nomination, please contact Migration Tasmania at skilled@migration.tas.gov.au #skilledmigrationupdates #migrationalerts #migrationupdatesaustralia #MigrationNews

At Closure, we understand the importance of responsible resource management and the vital role it plays in both environmental stewardship and economic prosperity. We are proud to support The Indian Resource Council and its member nations in their advocating for the redeployment of the unused $135 million portion of the Site Rehabilitation Program (SRP) by the Government of Canada as a First Nations Site Rehabilitation Program. While the designated time period may have passed, the significance of this initiative cannot be understated. It's widely recognized that the original SRP made substantial strides in improving the backlog of site closures, while concurrently boosting employment opportunities and mitigating emissions. The positive impact on First Nations communities was crucial, and there's still work to be done. The designated funds were initially viewed as an investment in both the environment and the economy, and that remains relevant today. By advocating for the utilization of the remaining $135 million as originally intended, we are supporting the investment in a sustainable future for all. We join in the call upon the federal government to extend its commitment if the $135 million and prioritize the needs of Indigenous communities. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that every dollar is used effectively. #OilAndGasIndustry #EnvironmentalStewardship #EconomicProsperity #IndigenousCommunities #SiteRehabilitationProgram #ResourceManagement #SustainableFuture
