Key Takeaways from the BMW rad°hub 2024! As promised I share with you the key takeaways from the vibrant BMW rad°hub, where I took part in the BMW's Future Scenario Workshop, a global gathering of around 40 thought leaders. The mission? To collectively envision and define our future in the year 2050.🚀 But first I would like to share how our group envisioned 2050 in the end of the masterclass: ✅ In the future, human communities will be digitally empowered, embracing sustainability and change through technology. Connectivity is considered a fundamental human right, fostering trust in technology for a balanced coexistence of humans and innovation. Organized literated micro-communities, deeply connected to nature, envision spending significant time outdoors for holistic well-being. ✅ The focus will be on regeneration and liberating ourselves from connectivity constraints, both digital and enabled by technology. This vision emphasizes diverse connections – with nature, with other humans, and with other beings on Earth. ✅ Another important part of the future are new regulations that gain control over technology and rebuild trust. 📣 We are happy to announce the first speaker at the MOQO Summit 2024 and today we want to share her thoughts on Shared Mobility with you: Anna Mayerthaler from ÖBB 📣 Anna is pursuing the vision of a connected and sustainable mobility. Under the ÖBB umbrella brand, she links services and providers on the wegfinder platform with the aim of bridging the first and last mile of rail travelers in Austria. At the MOQO Summit in May, Anna will be talking about the challenges and opportunities in implementation, particularly in relation to bikesharing. She has already given us a first insight and her current market assessment in advance → ➡ Where do you see opportunities and obstacles on the way to an integrated and connected mobility? The opportunity with shared mobility is clearly to slowly expand the range of services so that modal split changes become visible. And the most important thing here is visibility in the public space and the right quantity of offers per use case. From the platform perspective, the challenge is to achieve penetration and awareness among end customers so that the impact increases. ➡ What lessons have you learned over the years in setting up the bikesharing service? An important learning is certainly that as a product owner you start with a wealth of product features only to realize in the end that not everything you wanted is really essential for the end customer. And in our specific case, the "sandwich" position between two IT service providers (iMobility/wegfinder and MOQO) was a challenge. ➡ How do you think the mobility market will change in 2024? Some segments are in the process of consolidating (eScooter/on demand). I think a few strong providers will remain here. I just arrived in Berlin for InnoTrans 2024, where you will get a glimpse into our world. A world where we have over 80,000 talented individuals innovating to make transport cleaner, safer, seamless, efficient, connected, secure, enjoyable, equitable and accessible.   Since the last time we met in 2022, #TeamAlstom has been working towards these goals by:   - Mobilising for the #Paris2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to ensure the commercial service of 3 metro lines, 2 tram lines and RER line extensions in the Île-de-France region for the games. - Expanding our green traction portfolio to replace diesel, with conclusive tests for the first hybrid regional train in France in 2023, 2 hydrogen train fleets in commercial service in Germany and the new battery-powered train presented in Chemnitz last year. - Leading the way with continuous innovation, having been at the forefront of autonomous rail for over 30 years, pushing the boundaries to making the highest automation level, GoA 4, possible on regional trains, as demonstrated today in our Salzgitter site. - Reinventing very high speed with the first dynamic tests for the TGV-M in early 2023 and deliver to SNCF in 2025. - Recording a global order intake of around €40bn in the period with about 400 Traxx locos, over 400 trams, over 2000 metro cars and over 250 Coradia regional trains joining our customers’ fleets all around the world. - A continuous growth for our Services business, building enduring partnerships with key customers such as Transport for London (TfL), CrossCountry, and Maryland Area Rail Commuter (MARC).   And that’s just a handful of examples!   Such highlights demonstrate the dedication of #TeamAlstom to addressing the transportation needs of the world – needs that are rapidly evolving due to technological advancements, demographic shifts, environmental concerns, and rapid urbanisation.   Come and meet Alstom on booth 450 in Hall 3.2 and discover the outdoor display of the Flexity tram for Berlin, our Coradia Max regional train, or our joint presentation of Traxx Universal with Akiem. https://lnkd.in/eZitbTkG   #InnoTrans2024 #MobilityByNature

V2X reinforces car dominance rather than transitioning away from it. Brian Cronin from the USDOT recently returned from the ITS conference in Dubai, captivated by V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technology. The real solution lies in emphasizing low-tech modes of transportation — walking, biking, and public transport — rather than relying on technology to keep vehicles from killing people. (And shifting the blame to people who are killed by vehicles.) To achieve transportation justice, cities must prioritize human-centered planning that focuses on the needs of all users, not just those in cars. Cities, particularly in the global South, where car ownership is low, can benefit immensely from leveraging technology in a different way: using data to create environments designed for people, not vehicles.
