Earlier this year, the University of Stirling was accredited by Advance HE for its new CPD scheme, Focus on Fellowship. From 2025, we will offer Stirling colleagues two paths to becoming a fellow: - a new Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) - an experiential scheme, where colleagues are supported to develop their fellowship application over a six-month period We are keen to encourage all colleagues, academic and professional services, involved in teaching and supporting learning to apply for fellowship. There are many benefits to becoming a fellow including professional recognition for your work that is valued not just in the UK higher education sector but also in many international contexts. A major plus of the fellowship application process is the opportunity to reflect on and provide evidence of your practice as Liz Forbat illustrates in our short video. The secret is to start.... 1 step at a time. A simple tip but the ACTION can be daunting. Last year I took that 1 step, applied and enrolled at Capella University in their doctoral program. I feel ecstatic to celebrate reaching a halfway point. That first step is hard and then the next one - BUT Keep going.
