Happy teachers day to the paper cut that taught us that some lessons hurt. To the faked fever, the bunked class - and you never again grasped the math concept; you tried so hard. To the missed alarm, the early lecture. Happy teachers day to those trainings you attended even when your heart had a fracture. Happy teachers day to lessons learnt in traffic jams; pee before leaving, keep a snack handy, fuel up - car, heart, soul. Happy teachers day to mornings that start with a heavy heart, or a fresh start. To be grateful is a chapter, no, a subject, to master. Happy teachers day to life, to today. For teaching us that teachers aren’t always people. They’re moments and memories and things. Learn. The lessons are all around us.

Every January teachers return back to the classroom after a well-deserved break. As much as I have rested and rejuvenated myself, I swear January is 642 days long! It seems to be the same year after year. The minute to minute decisions can become overwhelming and sometimes make me question if I'm in the right profession. I always have my question answered by one ray of sunshine throughout my day. The key is to be open to seeing and feeling that light. In the moments you want to give up or the days seem too dark, take time to pause and reflect on what brought you to education. During the pause, reflect on your impact on those around you, the grace you give daily, and what you are hungry for. In your pause, have you noticed your chair at the table? Are you serving the same grace and patience to yourself as you do for others? You deserve to be loved, valued, and heard as well. When you find yourself in the low parts of the school year, seek the group of colleagues that will cheer you on and you can do the same for them. It’s time you feed yourself and be open to those who are serving you as well. #instructionalcoaching #teachersupport #grace #liveloved #intentionallypreparedteacher

All roads in life converge at one important point. In my son’s previous school, the children were taught to weigh every decision or action against the ‘Big 4’, before making or taking it. The Big 4 were questions they were to ask themselves quietly: - Is my action Fair? - Is it Kind? - Is it Safe? - Is it Respectful? Once they got through this list, the decision or action could be carried out or rejected. It was a simple way to make children pause, think and then act; all, according to their own free will, without anyone except their own inner voice guiding them. It worked beautifully! This playground ethic carries over to other places and situations and is as relevant for us adults as it is for primary school children. What if we too give the ‘Big 4’ a quick thought before any important decision or action, especially those which involve the ones around us? They say values are like fingerprints - every individual has unique ones but every individual also leaves a print of them wherever he or she goes. I say let’s be children again. Let’s give the Big 4 a chance! All roads in life converge at one important point. That of values. #valuesmatter #sundayreflections #learningfromchildren #parentinglife #fairness #kindness #safety #respect

#thoughtoftheday I couldn't agree more with this powerful reflection on the 'Big 4' principles for decision-making. It's remarkable how something as simple as asking ourselves four fundamental questions. It can profoundly shape our actions and interactions. It isn't just about following rules, it's about cultivating a mindset of empathy, integrity and accountability. By incorporating these principles into our decision-making processes, we not only uphold our own values but also contribute to a culture of mutual respect and understanding. #valuesmatter #Values #kindness #DecisionMaking #Ethics #Leadership #Empathy #Integrity #linkedinreflections
