Part 1: The challenge of a new environment A semester abroad in Seville - it sounds like adventure, freedom and new impressions. And it is. But the picture is not always as ideal as it might seem from the outside. Moving to a new city, a foreign country with a completely different culture means leaving behind a lot of things that were taken for granted. In Seville, everyday life is different. Meal times - a bit of a challenge for me at first - are much later. Breakfast is often a small snack, while lunch doesn't take place until around 3 pm. Dinner often doesn't start until 9 pm or later. This different sense of time affects everything. The day is structured differently here and I had to learn to adapt to it. The mentality is also a new experience: in Seville you can feel a warmth and calmness that can hardly be compared with the often hectic everyday life in Germany. But as an exchange student, it takes time to really immerse yourself in this culture and engage with people whose way of thinking and priorities are different. Finding the balance between my own identity and adapting to the new environment is sometimes a challenge - but one that I gratefully accept. #semesterabroad #challenge #newenvironment

My Experience as an International Student in France 🇫🇷📚✈️ In 2020, I embarked on a journey that many students around the world undertake—leaving my home country to study abroad in France. Like so many others, I was filled with a mix of excitement and fear. Moving to a new country, navigating a different culture, and adapting to a new educational system can be daunting. I remember feeling overwhelmed, unsure of what to expect, and even questioning my decision at times. But I want to share something important with all the international students out there who may be feeling the same way: those fears are normal, and you are not alone. Every year, countless students like us take this bold step, and we all face similar challenges. The initial months may be tough, and you might even think about going back. But trust me, once you push through the adjustment period, you'll find that this experience is incredibly rewarding. Living and studying in a foreign country has its challenges, but it also offers a unique opportunity to grow, learn, and gain a broader perspective on the world. The difficulties you face now will soon turn into valuable life lessons, and the fear will transform into confidence. So, if you're feeling uncertain or scared right now, know that it’s completely normal. And know that you have the strength to get through it. Embrace the journey, because the privilege of immersing yourself in a new culture, meeting diverse people, and expanding your horizons is worth every challenge you’ll face. You will look back on this experience as one of the most enriching and transformative times of your life.

What are your dreams? As we approach a new year, it is the perfect time to reflect on them. Let me share one of mine. I am from Artvin, a small city on the breathtaking Black Sea coast of Türkiye, where the mountains rise in every shade of green. Life there was simple and happy, but my dreams were anything but small. I always wanted to be an engineer—and not just any engineer—I dreamed of living, studying, and working abroad, in an international environment, learning from different cultures. Armed with a burning passion and just 3 suitcases, I landed in Germany with barely enough money to survive six months. My plan? To complete two semesters' worth of courses in one, so I could work full-time in the next. I studied day and night, pushing myself beyond limits. My “breaks” were in a kebab shop washing dishes, in an Italian restaurant chopping garlic, and even dancing Sirtaki in a Greek restaurant. I didn’t care; I was chasing my dream. But the road wasn’t easy. After completing my courses, I faced a new challenge: finding a company that would pay me for my master’s thesis. I sent out 50 applications—no luck. Then 50 more. Still no. I was on the edge, but I refused to give up. Finally, after 150 applications, I got a letter from Mars—the company famous for making Whiskas. They offered me a position, not to work with chocolate, but to produce cat food! Yes, I spent my days examining cat food quality and opening can after can with a smile on my face. Why? Because they paid me to live my dream, and that was priceless. Persistence pays off. One of the proudest moments of my life was completing my master’s degree—a milestone achieved through countless hours of study, hard work in restaurants, and an unrelenting belief in my dream. As I reflect on this journey, I have realized that no matter how tough the road gets, the finish line is always closer than you think. The journey might be challenging, but the rewards are far greater than you can imagine. So, as we prepare for the new year, I ask again: What are your dreams? Whatever they are, I hope you never stop chasing them. The impossible becomes possible when you refuse to give up. #DreamBig #Persistence #NewYearReflections

Do you know what’s the most favorite part of my day? Before I tell you what it is, let me tell you a little story. I’ve been working for 10+ years now but never managed to take a full-fledged break. And sometimes, when you can’t manage your time effectively, you are left with zero time for yourself. So in such circumstances, it becomes, super important to keep some pockets of the day for yourself. The time and the place doesn’t matter. What matters is whether you can spend some time alone and whether or not you enjoy it. For me, the best part of my day is the lunch break and the bike rides to the office. I love having lunch with my employees and getting to know them better. It makes them feel valued. Similarly, my rides to and fro give me sufficient time to recharge and ponder over the day's outcomes. After all, it's in small moments like these we reconnect with ourselves. P.S: What’s the best part of your day? 🎯Planning to study abroad? Book a 1:1 FREE consultation call with me now! (Link in BIO)

The only thought on my mind was: “Wait it’s over? I only have 3 weeks left?” I was having so much fun that time didn’t exist anymore. My exchange semester abroad was too good. I have memories that’ll last forever. And now I’m working back home. Job is good; I like working on my skills. But I have to admit: It’s not the same. A few months already flew by and it feels like a blip in time. Same phenomenon as my semester abroad. The difference? I barely have any memories of these months. I age before my eyes. This is why people feel life is short: They either love what they do and it goes by too fast. Or they dislike their time spent → they forget about it → and so it goes by fast. Choose how you want to live. Life will run by you either way. I’ll now sparkle in memorable activities outside of work time. More of what I love. Water your mind with more lessons I learn every day: lifewithchris.substack.com

This morning and I sip from my coffee mug, an awesome gift from our foreign exchange student, it reminds me of the incredible experiences that come our way when we are open to challenges and new perspectives. Being a host family has enriched my family’s lives in ways I never imagined. It’s more than just sharing our home; it’s been lessons learned by diving into the cultures, stories, and traditions that exist beyond our little bubble. Each conversation is an opportunity to learn about places like Mallorca, and every shared meal becomes a window into a different way of life. In business, just like in life, we must embrace the challenges that come our way. Continuous learning is essential for growth and success. Much like the stories we exchange as a host family, the insights we gain from diverse experiences can open doors to innovative ideas and new connections. While there are so many areas in business that can stress you out to no end the very challenges and opportunities to learn and grow help keep me alive! So, let’s celebrate the beauty of stepping out of our comfort zones, be it through hosting an exchange student or tackling a new project at work. The world has so much to offer if we’re willing to accept the challenges and learn from them. Here’s to new adventures and the richness they bring! 🌍✨ #HostFamily #CulturalExchange #ContinuousLearning #EmbraceChallenges #BusinessGrowth
