What the, @malmstromafb? What on earth do you three Airmen think you're doing? Is this cool? Is it #patrioticer? #ceremonialer? Where is this position in AFPAM 34-1203? Huck Finn would be proud because all of you look like you're goin' fishin'. How you could do this, have a photo taken, and then have it published on Malmstrom AFB official social media just shows everyone our standards, even the seemingly little, stupid, insignificant standards, are gone. Do what you want as long as the outcome is #emotionaler. ❌Not only are these flags being carried over the shoulder like #HoboColors, ❌the American is on the far left, ❌the POW is a flag and not a color. It's only flown from a halyard, not a staff. ❌AFI 34-1201 SPECIFICALLY states the POW is not carried! ❌Two of the staffs have been cut down. The ferrule is missing and the bottom half is shorter. ❌Two of the finials are not authorized. 👉But, at least ya' got a cool photo, right? "Screw your standards." Little Arnie Schwarzy would be so proud. 🔆Education is 🔑! . 🔹Read your manuals! Download them free at the Resources page here: www.thedrillmaster.org . Excellent presentation from Robert Fookes on the US Air Force Material Command's journey in Digital Materiel Management (DMM). If I had to guess what this Digital Engineering conference will be called in 2 years' time, I reckon DMM is a pretty safe bet. Looking forward to reading the associated white paper. #integratedlogisticsupport #ils #integratedproductsupport #ips #logisticsupportanalysis #lsa #productsupportanalysis #psa #weaponsystemsustainment #sustainment #supportengineering #digitaljourney
Digital Engineering Conference 2024 - riveting presentations yet again! Mr Robert Fookes Jr., USAF, Rolls-Royce and MOD Commercial, excellent and its only just gone 10.00!

I read someplace the no.1 reason TOC implementations fail is leadership and managerial commitment. It’s also the no.1 reason they succeed, and the outcomes achieved by USAF and Tesseract, so capably lead by Major General Linda Hurry, are testament to the magic recipe that is motivated teams with strong servant leadership.
❤️ Farewell to a Remarkable Leader! 🌟 Today, we at Tesseract want to bid our most heartfelt and bittersweet goodbye to Major General Linda Hurry. Major General Hurry has been an incredible force behind our success, and her unwavering support has been instrumental in shaping our journey. As the Director of Logistics and Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection at the U.S. Air Force Headquarters, she exemplified true leadership and dedication. Without her guidance and belief in our mission, Tesseract wouldn't be where it is today. Major General Hurry, your influence and support have been invaluable to us. While we're sad to see you go, we're excited for your next endeavor as the Deputy Commander at the Air Force Materiel Command headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We have no doubt that you will continue to excel and make a profound impact, as you have always done so! Wishing you the very best in your new role and all your future endeavors! 🚀👏

I have finished the job, to build up: Grumman F6F Hellcat model (partly inadequate setting) and Chance Vought F4U Corsair (mostly completed with "looking right"). I had feeling much proud, to finish and set them up. Both models are not in colors and still not in USAF markings. The air force markings will be set, but not straightly. The model original one-colors, as in the model sets primarily will be maintained. Going to be as a 2-motored multipurpose planes modeller. Some parts seems to be missing. Thereafter, met some problem early. So they never are the beautiful perfect one modelling works. I regret that very deeply. ='((

#HumanPotential Meet Pat Walsh, former United States #Navy four-star admiral who last served as the 59th Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Early in his career, he flew as a #blueangels pilot. I had the privilege of hearing him speak this week, and the stories that he shared were nothing short of incredible. A few key highlights that will stick with me forever. >>> With the benefit of hindsight, at its core, he describes his career as the discovery of how to unlock human potential more so than just people, technology, or flying planes. >>> When coaching and training pilots, let them know when they are out of position, and how to get into position, NOT that they are doing something wrong - his comments about how they teach new Blue Angel pilots to fly planes with only 24 to 36 inches between planes, and only 150 ft in the air. >>> In the Blue Angels world, the show is about 45 minutes and the debrief of every show is 3 hours! They review frame by frame spending 3 times more on debriefing and teaching, coaching, and learning how to improve their performance than the show itself. WHY IT MATTERS: Are we spending enough time reinforcing our training? Are we just telling people they are doing it wrong or are we showing them how to be in position? Training takes time, and we have to be ok with the time it takes to unlock our team's true human potential. #training #resilience

I had the pleasure of attending the Surface Naval Association Symposium this week on behalf of Defense Unicorns. Overall the event was great but this sign at elevators (and a following interaction) gave me a chuckle. While we could comment on the need to shut things down for upgrades, I actually applaud the desire to modernize and take steps to do so. One of the side effects of the modernization in one of the elevators was that if more than 3 floors were selected, it would reset all inputs. My fellow passengers and I had a fun puzzle to solve to ensure everyone got to their floor! Luckily we got there pretty quickly after some forced collaboration :) — solution was that on the way up we’d select the lowest floors first and add each additional floor after one cleared. The immediate joke (and therefor chuckle) that came to mind was, “the hotel must be paying for the wrong subscription because selecting 4 floors is a feature of the more expensive plan”. While I’m sure we’ve all experienced frustrations around subscriptions like that, it doesn’t actually mean subscriptions are bad in my Millenial brain. I actually love subscription models because they refocus the conversation around outcomes instead of inputs that we hope lead to outcomes. I don’t love feature paywall subscription levels though :( So what do we think? Am I alone in liking subscription models when implemented well?

"A champion is someone who gets up when he can't" - Jack Dempsey, Heavyweight Boxer This is a quote that I carved into my desk when I was in high school and later wrote across the edges of my reefpoints at the Naval Academy. They are words that have echoed through my brain countless times whenever I am doing something difficult or I encounter an obstacle. To me, the quote boils down to toughness, resiliency, and the will to succeed. In life we have to be prepared to take hits, even get knocked down, and keep going. In the Navy, this is essential for continued operation and success of the mission. As leaders we have to make decisions and execute in the face of uncertainty, but what if we could mathematically analyze and plan for these changes? In this example we have 9 officers and 12 enlisted personnel scheduled to supervisory watch positions over a one month time period. However, O6 has an 80% chance of qualifying SDO, O10 has a 50% chance of qualifying EDO, and E13 has a 60% of qualifying EDPO. We have to publish a baseline schedule for the case where none of these individuals qualify even though there is only a 4% chance that this will be true. In my model, we look at each possible scenario (8 total) and minimize the range of dissatisfaction across the watchstanders, weighted by their likelihood. In the same model, we seek to minimize the total number of changes that would need to be made to the baseline schedule given a particular scenario came to fruition. Below, I have included a compressed version of the results with the full baseline schedule and only the watchstations that had a change to the schedule. Decision makers now have a pre-planned response to each of the potential qualification outcomes that minimizes changes that need to be made while maintaining equal loading of watches based on individual preferences. This ensures smooth, seamless operation while demonstrating care for the individuals. My model has now made a tough and resilient schedule that will succeed in uncertain conditions. For any thoughts on this model or examples you would like to see run, please leave a comment. For more on this model, see my past two posts.
