DIARY OF A HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT. I have had personal challenges in the past with healthcare staff rudely attending to customers and patients. This happens regularly in 93% of our hospitals and medical investigation centers. As an Administrative Assistant, I must say that this is a segment that needs urgent attention. A medical laboratory administrative assistant engages with patients, using fundamental soft skills to critically ensure patients have a positive experience from the first phone call through every appointment and follow-up conversation. The Three most important Soft Skills for effectively engaging with patients are- 1. Professionalism 2. Dependability 3. Verbal communication Empathy, Patience, a listening ear, and Communication skills are very much needed in discussing with patients. #inforprenure #healthcareadministrativeassistant #administrativeassistant #AVirtualAssistant #viralpost #healthcare #learning

Marketing Executive and Client Care Director @ HomeMD Housecall Services and Director of Client Care at A Choice
Any brilliant ideas?? Saw something interesting at a recent gathering that made me chuckle at first, then left me feeling introspective. It got me thinking about the importance of paying attention to details, a skill I honed during my days as a front line nurse. In my profession, noticing the nuances is crucial. From my experience, I've realized that truly connecting with others goes beyond just hearing their words; it's about observing and understanding the unspoken cues. This approach, influenced by my nursing background and even binge-watching House, has been invaluable in my role in medical marketing. Whether it's hosting a meeting or engaging in a conversation, the devil is in the details. Taking note of these subtleties not only enhances communication but also enables me to provide tailored assistance and resources to those I interact with. Remember, it's often the little things that make all the difference. 🫶🏽 #DetailsMatter #EffectiveCommunication #ObservationalSkills #ProfessionalInsights HomeMD Housecall Services Home Instead

The modern medical assistant. If you're a medical assistant reading this let me tell you that you can do much more than you are assigned. You are likely a woman, you are likely young, and you are likely a minority. These are all strengths you're bringing to an outdated healthcare system in which neither patient nor doctor is happy. You aren't just checking patients in. You are the first point of contact for someone who is freaking the fuck out about their health. You are their calm, reassuring voice. Use your clinical hat and guess what is going on with the patient. What do they really need? Meds or reassurance? Understand the vitals you're measuring; they can tell you so much about the patient without even getting a history. You are the heartbeat of the urgent care. You can set the tone, pace, and input/output of the clinic. Build that 6th sense and use it to build a career for yourself. Soon, you'll be the lead MA. Next, the clinic manager. Eventually, you're overseeing a few sites, and later, you are the CFO of the company. You don't need anyone's permission to take charge. And if you are working somewhere where taking charge is frowned upon, leave. Open those lines of communication and understand each team member's strength, weakness, and attributes. #medicalassistant
