No matter if you are pushing or pulling your weld with short circuit mig, if you have too extreme of a work angle it will lead to problems. Here Austin is welding 3/8th's plate using the ABICOR BINZEL ABIMIG AT 225 to show how when you have too extreme of a drag, you will get a humped-up weld with a lack of penetration, and if you have too extreme of a push angle, you will have excessive spatter, lack of fusion and might even run into porosity. Watch the full video testing the penetration of push vs pull over on YouTube https://foxly.link/gVnNYS

Quick Guide to Rules for Integral Tubesheets (ASME Sec. VIII Div. 2) Integral tubesheets (those welded to the shell or channel) can be tricky to calculate, especially at the junction with the shell/channel. #ASME_SecVIII #Div2 (Part 4.18 – the old #UHX section) has some important rules that come into play. First, It is important to understand the difference between the "Elastic-Plastic Method" and the "Simply Support Method". Also, pay attention to the "Minimum length requirements" for the adjacent shell and the "Distance between nozzles and the Intergal tubesheet". This also includes the "Minimum length for shell bands". Finally, It is important to know how to reduce the stresses at the shell or channel if they exceed the allowable stress. The solution is three options. Option number 3 which is the "Elastic-Plastic method" is used most of the time. The image below summarizes these important rules. Happy learning! P.S. Please kindly refer to the mentioned clauses for more details. This post is just a quick guide. #PressureVessels #ASME #MechanicalEngineering #shellandtube #heatexchanger #UHX #Tubesheet #div1 #div2 #Integraltubesheet #elastic #plastic
