🤔 Office Politics: Why You Can Never Win Against Your Boss 🚫 When it comes to office politics, many of us have learned the hard way that trying to “win” against your boss is a battle best avoided. The dynamics between you and your boss aren’t just about titles—they involve trust, power, and the overall structure of your organisation. Here’s why trying to outmaneuver your boss is a losing game: 1. Power Imbalance ⚖️: Your boss has the authority, the network, and the influence to shape decisions that impact your career. Challenging that can put you in a vulnerable position. 2. Trust Matters 🤝: When you engage in office politics with your boss, you risk eroding the trust that’s essential for a healthy working relationship. Without trust, collaboration and growth become difficult. 3. Long-Term Impact 🎯: Even if you “win” a short-term conflict, the long-term consequences might not be worth it. It’s more beneficial to align with your boss and find ways to support each other’s goals. Rather than getting entangled in a no-win scenario, focus on understanding your boss’s motivations and aligning your efforts with the broader goals of the team. This way, you’ll build a stronger, more productive relationship that benefits both of you in the long run. The rules regarding engaging and terminating managing directors in Europe differ significantly. Against this background, Simonsen Vogt Wiig has, led by Rebecka Thörn and together with over 30 leading labour lawyers from different European countries, published a summary of the employment and dismissal of managing directors in Europe. The rules differ from country to country, which affects, among other things, whether managing directors are hired through an employment contract or through a so-called service agreement. This distinction is crucial as it affects rights and obligations during and after the employment/engagement. For multinational companies, it is important to understand these nuances to avoid pitfalls.

I can see how some of the junior professionals should not be held to a non compet, but I also think that should be subject to the role and the level of exposure to propriety information or clients.
