Years spent in rough sea waters shape a person's perspective and provide several valuable insights. For our Chief Engineer Olegs Davidovs one proverb, in particular, stands out: "Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors." To our #teamLSC and young seafarers, he says this: Embrace the difficulties you encounter at sea. Don't shy away from rough waves or unpredictable winds. See them as opportunities to strengthen your skills, overcome challenges and achieve your goals in the maritime industry.

I am very happy to share that our Supervision Board has appointed my colleagues Olaf Waals (now Manager Offshore) and Hannes Bogaert (now Manager Performance at Sea) as my successors as President and Vice President of MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands)! From 1 January 2025 they will form the new Board of Directors of MARIN. For the official announcement see: https://lnkd.in/eDy2h8Ru This process started at MARIN’s New Year breakfast in January where I personally announced that I wanted to step down as MARIN President at the end of this year. Why did I do that? I currently have the best job in the world. MARIN is a wonderful organization where I have been working for almost 33 years now and have been President for 14 years at the end of 2024. I have more than 450 wonderful and committed colleagues. Together we play our role within the international maritime sector in partnership with you as international colleagues. We are working on the MARIN of the future in many ways, relevant to the maritime sector. I think I have made my contribution to that in the past period. And I still do that with all my enthusiasm and commitment. But you don't have a job like this for yourself. It is a task and responsibility that is bigger than yourself. You do it for MARIN and the maritime sector. And then I have to look to the future. I want to work for at least another 10 years. If I were to continue as President until then, it would be almost 25 years. That is not wise for MARIN. MARIN is a team effort. In recent years, together we have created an organization that is ready for the future, with broadened knowledge and updated facilities. We will continue with that. The opening of the new Seven Oceans Simulator centre (SOSc) in May 2024 by our King was a highlight for me. And in 2025 MARIN will update its strategy for the period 2026-2030 under the inspiring leadership of Olaf and Hannes. Together with the MARIN colleagues they stand for MARIN's mission: a clean, smart and safe maritime sector in the future. I look forward to working with them over the next six months and transferring everything. I don't know exactly yet what I'm going to do next. I am going to orient myself on that now. One thing is certain: it will be #maritime. And my personal mission remains close to that of MARIN: through collaboration and innovation make the maritime sector cleaner, smarter and safer and contribute to sustainable and secure use of the seas!

💥💥"No pressure, no diamonds"💥💥 And the discussion went on..... 👉The officer was rude with Humera Ma'am, said the team to team leaders and project leader. 🤷And they asked, What went wrong, Humera Ma'am? 🧏♀️I Said, I was connected with 3 officers, Senior Head and his two juniors. This one I had the number as senior had shared, and I saved. 🧑🍼He came on board and didn't find the team. So he called up and bursted his frustrations. 🤷♀️I said, you people dont have clearence, yesterday team didn't get the permission to work and all were sitting. Today team came and same is the situation. Can't you people inform that there will be no clearance for two days. I would have sent them to other project. 🧑🍼And the officer said, team didn't come today at all, and we are just fooling them. So I called the teamleader and asked, where are you people? and he said, on board. 🧏♀️I said, send the entire team and let them meet this officer, and then ask them to talk to me. 👉The team met the officer and they got to know about the entire scene the officer created. 🤷And the project leader said, Officer shouldn't have spoken in this manner. Why didn't you inform the Senior officer? 🧏♀️I said, I am glad, he opened up, even i came to know about the new officers challenges. Small - Small things shouldn't be taken to Senior officers. It’s Ok. Its all Part of project. I have spoken to other junior officer and asked to take care. 🤝We learn , we argue, and in the end, everything should fall in place, only that matters. #shipbuilding #shiprepair #marine #marineindustry #shipyard
