It's time to dispel the idea that #PTSD only impacts veterans. 13 million Americans live with PTSD, stemming from physical assault, abuse, combat, illness, accidents or a natural disaster. In fact, the World Health Organization estimated that 3.6% of the global population experienced PTSD in a given year! According to the latest peer-reviewed study evaluating GrayMatters Health's flagship FDA-cleared product, Prism for PTSD, self-neuromodulation offers hope. Prism for PTSD uses a computer simulation and EEG headset to create a novel, immersive environment for training individuals to self-modulate an amygdala-based biomarker associated with PTSD. 32% of patients enrolled in the study achieved remission, while 67% showed clinically significant improvement. Curious to learn more? Check out the study! #ClientNews #Biomarker #SelfNeuromodulation

"Data & Society’s forthcoming report Doing the Work: Therapeutic Labor, Teletherapy, and the Platformization of Mental Health Care explores how these new arrangements of therapeutic labor are affecting how therapists provide care and make a living in the US. By focusing on the experiences of providers who practice teletherapy and work for digital platforms, our research examines the fundamental tensions that emerge when a profession rooted in clinical expertise, licensing, and training standards meets the dynamics of platformization, productivity incentives, and algorithmic management. Join our Neurodiversity-affirming practice workshop! Many autistic and ADHDer adolescents and adults seek therapy after enduring misdiagnoses and struggling to conform to neurotypical norms. They often face self-criticism, internalised stigma, and chronic burnout due to an unsupportive environment. However, a self-advocacy and social justice movement is transforming the landscape, emphasising human rights, support, and reduced stigma. Therapists must adapt to these changes and deliver affirming care. In this workshop, led by Jennifer Kemp, a neurodivergent clinical psychologist, we delve into the foundations of neurodiversity-affirming practice. Gain practical guidance on delivering best practice, affirming therapeutic interventions. https://bit.ly/3PDIjG3 The workshop suits professionals working with autistic and ADHDer adults and adolescents, as well as those with diverse client groups. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your practice and provide affirming support to neurodivergent individuals. Register now on our website and join us on the path to inclusive care!

👏 FREE Webinar with CEUs about Vicarious Trauma Mitigation The National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC) invited Lisa Dion to discuss Vicarious Trauma on May 2nd at 12 PM EST. This is a topic I have been educating myself on more and more and is relevant for all interpreters that interpret in social services, asylum and mental and behavioral health settings. A short description of the event, by NCIHC: "This webinar aims to explore the impact of trauma on helpers, posing essential questions such as: What occurs when a helper experiences primary or secondary trauma? How does a helper's own traumatic experiences affect their ability to offer aid, and what are the implications for the individuals they assist? How does a helper handle their own unresolved trauma when triggered during the act of helping? Additionally, the webinar will investigate strategies to mitigate the effects of trauma exposure, drawing from fields like Interpersonal Neurobiology and Polyvagal Theory, ultimately enabling helpers to continue thriving in their crucial roles." The link to register is in the first comment. Share this with other interpreters in your network 🗣 See you there? #interpreting #trauma #medical #health #MentalHealth #VicariousTrauma #1nt

The title of this presentation ("Perspectives on Financing Strategies for Evidence-Based Treatment Implementation in Youth Mental Health Systems") is also the title of a paper I recently published in The Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics with my colleagues at RAND and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center!
Last September graduate student Maddison North presented at the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) conference in Seattle. Her presentation was titled, “Perspectives on Financing Strategies for Evidence-Based Treatment Implementation in Youth Mental Health Systems.” This was part of a symposium titled, “Fiscal, Organizational, and End-User Considerations for Improving Use of Evidence in Large Scale Healthcare Systems”
