In the time it takes you to read this post, it is likely another American will suffer from a TBI. The Brain Injury Association says a person in the U.S. sustains a traumatic brain injury every 15 seconds. And it's the leading cause of death and disability for those under 45. We know how important it is to detect, diagnose, and monitor head injuries. Take a look at our results from first-in-human pilot studies and foundational research: https://shorturl.at/bdOT7

This article highlights the importance of brain injury screening in behavioral healthcare settings. Brain injury screening is underutilized and can really help understand patients. Hoping to continue to lead the way in this initiative. Way to go Kathryn Hyzak, PhD and Jennifer Bogner!

New publication! This one is for the brain injury researcher. We identify barriers to traumatic brain injury screening adoption, but more importantly, we discuss how we used a practical tool for pinpointing strategies for overcoming these barriers and potential mechanisms through which we think these strategies may work. https://lnkd.in/g-jtG357

"In this study, the Johns Hopkins team set out to explore the relationship between the ICP waveform and the three physiological waveforms that are routinely captured in the ICU: invasive arterial blood pressure (ABP), photoplethysmography (PPG) and electrocardiography (ECG). ABP, PPG and ECG data were used to train deep learning algorithms, resulting in a level of accuracy in determining ICP that rivals or exceeds other methodologies." Wow! There are so many benefits to be had with less invasive monitoring! I look forward to following this closely as more data comes available.
