Another promising energy transition sector is “heating up”: 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Last week, Victor Weisberg, Director in our investment team, had the pleasure to participate in Pantokrator’s webinar on the topic together with leading industry experts, bringing an investor perspective to the discussion. Some of our key takeaways from the discussion: - The decarbonisation of industrial heat at temperatures below 200°C can increasingly be most efficiently achieved with bespoke heat-pump and electrical boiler solutions - While technology readiness levels vary, the sector is quickly evolving: emerging equipment suppliers, higher maximum temperature ranges, larger-scale heat pumps and greater demand from end customers - Given that industrial-scale heat pumps require larger upfront capital expenditures, significant demand for financing options from industrial end customers looking to decarbonise their processes can be expected - The sector is ripe for “as-a-service” solutions, which we at SUSI have been financing at scale for nearly a decade We will certainly keep paying close attention to developments in this emerging sector.
