Last month, our Hong Kong office was abuzz with energy as we welcomed a group of secondary school students who joined us for a work experience program! Led by our colleagues from the Asia Pacific Business Group and Research Center, the students got a sneak peek into what a typical day at SenseTime is like by shadowing our various project teams. As much as the students were here to learn about the tech ecosystem, we also learned a lot from them. The questions they asked gave us fresh insights as to how the next generation perceives AI amidst a rapidly evolving environment. Through their lens, we saw their passion to leverage AI for a better tomorrow. This is the spark that we hope to continue igniting among young talents as they continue to pursue the knowledge of AI, inspiring them to carve out their own niche and grow to become next-gen AI leaders. #SenseTime #AI #HongKong #Innovation #AItalent

Will #AI take away our jobs? On International Women's Day I get to meet Sophia - the world’s first robot citizen (of Saudi) specially flown in from Hong Kong for The Straits Times Education Forum at Singapore Management University. Over 1 hour The Straits Times Associate Editor Jeremy Au Yong had a conversation with Sophia and tested how human she is. Here's my verdict: Sophia is 💃🏻 fearless (she is able to speak her mind and where she is not sure, she admits it) 💃🏻 humorous (she tells a joke with a straight face which can be funny) 💃🏻 (has) good memory (stored in her virtual brain) 💃🏻 good at deflecting questions (but with no fineses) 💃🏻 constantly learning (with every interaction) and has an expansive knowledge base Sophia cannot 🎉 dance or do tik tok video 🎉 predict the future (and was politically & factually correct when asked who will likely win the US Presidential election or how humans can stop wars) 🎉 understand Singlish nor speak Singlish nor understand local dishes 🎉 empathise (totally no emotions) 🎉 sense what's around her (poor sensory acuity) 🎉 cannot solve complex problems (only regurgitate what's stored in her virtual memory bank) So the verdict: AI will continue to shape how we work and live. Technology (AI) cannot be viewed as a disruptor or replacement but as an augment to what we do. As we can see from the above experience, human skills, empathy, problem solving and communication skills (all in the Skillfuture Core Critical Skills framework) will be important (and affirmed by the WEF Future of Work Study) It was such an eye opener, witnessing the conversation between a human and AI. If you have a question to ask Sophia, what would you ask? The future is here. Let's embrace the new world of work and reinvent how we lead. #growth #reinvent #soar #leadership

Has this crossed your feed yet? It's is worth a watch as one example of how we can start thinking about #AI at the intersection of education, leadership and public governance. For the next little while anyway, I don’t think employees will lose their jobs to AI, but I think they may lose their jobs to *people* who can use AI. Said another way, given two good job applicants, one with AI proficiency in your sector and one without, who would you hire? Singapore is on it. https://lnkd.in/gtQNv4Dh

Expert in Healthcare, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence | Network Scientist | Relentlessly Optimistic | Assistant Professor @ Darden UVA
I cannot agree enough with some of Dr. Dario Gill’s perspectives that he shared at The Information’s AI Summit. 1. Importance of Small Models — I just spent a few weeks in Korea and being back there reminded me of how different business is when you don’t have nearly endless land. The physical scale of compute infrastructure, as Tim Laseter always reminds me, is staggering and not every country is going to be able to be self-sufficient. That means different markets will need to come up with solutions that work and scale best for them, OR continue to import from other countries. This connects to… 2. The Need for Open AI — We should all be concerned about AI and the next phase of the Internet continuing the paradigm of Web 2. Who is to stop the largest and most powerful companies from continuing to use us for data to lock us into their ecosystems and sell us more stuff? Monopolies are dangerous. Even as a foreigner in Korea, it’s amazing just how carefully I could be tracked I was through only a handful of apps and my eSIM. Past work and ongoing collaboration with Alex Murray, Jordan Brewer, and Dhru Patel is centered around the importance of changing to culture and business models around AI and personal data. I hope many of you and your networks will join us at UVA Darden Executive Education & Lifelong Learning for an exciting program where organizational leaders and thought leaders grapple with these critically important issues. https://lnkd.in/eEuY7hCn #ai #ethics #darden #lifelonglearning

CEO-2023 FORBES 40 WOMEN- Build your next-gen Innovation Operating System: Teams x Technology x Sustainability x Peers Best Practices x Corporate Venture Building| Learn from Emerging Markets| Board | TEDx Speaker| eDBA
🚨A must-watch video on how a nation augments its economy by upskilling its workforce with a lifelong learning program on Artificial Intelligence. 👩🏻🎓Pursuing an executive doctorate research, I delve into how emerging economies' governments and corporations are not just navigating but thriving amidst the waves of #change, #innovation, #AI, and #sustainability. ⚡️At the heart of this exploration, #Singapore emerges as a standout story of triumph. It's a narrative about how visionary leadership, coupled with bold and smart strategies, can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and advancement. ✨Singapore's journey is a masterclass for global -political & business- leaders on embracing the future with open arms. The government's keen eye on the transformative power of AI is driving them to empower their citizens proactively. 🧠A notable initiative is their new subsidy for individuals aged 40 and above, encouraging them to embark on a full-time diploma in higher education. ➡️This move isn't just about keeping pace with technological advancements; it's about rewriting the script on lifelong learning, ensuring that their workforce remains resilient, adaptable, and forward-thinking. 🤖Singapore's approach goes beyond policy-making; it's about fostering a culture where change is welcomed, and innovation is the new norm. 🤜🏻This story isn't just inspiring—it's a call to action for leaders everywhere to think differently about leadership and empowerment in the age of AI. 🌏If every nation, business, startup, and leader adopted Singapore's practice of empowering their people to adapt and excel, our world would be more ready to tackle future challenges and seize opportunities." 💥Because no matter what, AI is meant to stay, scale, and disrupt our world. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Futureisnow #upskilling #futureofeducation #Innovation #Disruption #augmentedpeople #change #emergingmarkets #singapore #Technology #DigitalTransformation #visionaryleaders #government #thriving #sustainability #economy #impact #weimpactworld Follow us WEIMPACT.WORLD https://lnkd.in/g-j8Ri9U

Fractional CMO for Startups | Growth Advisor | Integrated Marketing | Digital Strategy | Ex - Google | INSEAD | ONE Pass
It was wonderful to return to INSEAD Singapore for #GlobalINSEADDay celebrations yesterday. As always, there was a spread of food for thought across timely issues - ranging from leading & serving on company boards, global macro-economic trends & MNCs in Asia. I particularly enjoyed Pushan Dutt's session which unpacked implications from the end of ZIRP, imbalances across China, and not surprisingly, the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 [vs. upstream metrics on the volume of patents/research papers for which other countries have reasonable representation]. The charts below drive the last point home. In 2022, when the top 2% of #AI researchers in the world were asked about where they studied undergrad vs. where they work today, the US skew is starkly evident. More here: https://lnkd.in/g4GkMQQ4

🚀 Driving AI-Powered Growth for Businesses • Entrepreneur • Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders
🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟭𝟬 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗘𝗿𝗮 It all started over a dinner in southern China with my friends (wǒ de péngyǒu). We were sharing stories about work and life when my friend Ryan Zhao shared a Chinese proverb that stuck with me: "在家靠父母,出门靠朋友"—"At home, you rely on your parents, but outside, you rely on your friends." That moment opened my eyes to the 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 that shape how we navigate an increasingly AI-driven world. As AI continues to disrupt industries, I’ve realized that the traits making us human—𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, and 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀—are the ones that will set great leaders and businesses apart. 💡 In my latest blog post, I take you through 𝟭𝟬 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 that are essential for thriving in the AI era, inspired by my journey across cultures: 🌍 𝗦𝗶𝘀𝘂 (Finnish) – The grit to persevere in the face of challenges, especially in fast-changing environments. 💪 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝘁𝘇𝗽𝗮𝗵 (Yiddish) – Boldness and risk-taking that drive innovation (featuring insights from Dr. Mason Harris’s work on the Chutzpah Advantage!). 🎨 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗶 (Greek) – The creativity and passion AI can't replicate—what we bring to our work every day. 🤝 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶 (Mandarin Chinese) – The trust and relationships that are pivotal in business, beyond what any algorithm can offer. 💼 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? In a world dominated by AI advancements, success will come from those who can 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 with technology. By embracing these 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀, you’ll not only stay ahead but lead the charge into the future. 📖 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲—𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/evieZ-Vx 💬 Have you encountered any of these concepts in your personal or professional life?
