We recently performed advanced diagnostics of a ferry's propulsion machinery and hull structure to identify the root cause of vibration in the couplings and reduction gear input bearings. ⚙ They had encountered a failure with these components recently. One of our solutions included installing a motion amplification video camera beneath the coupling and down the shaft (as seen below). 🛠 Data was collected at various engine speeds in the San Francisco Bay waters.
