That Sentek Max UFC was developed and used to replace the wiring harness with a single flat flexible cable, saving 90% of the costs and improving system signal to noise. The Magic Shield technology announced the benefits of flat, flexible cable, simplifying design and assembly while retaining high performance. I'm actually yield is a technology that uses flat, flexible cables in a way that blocks interference. The design spreads the signal symmetrically across the cable and recombines it at the end using a simple circuit in a way that cancels out interference. This gives a 50 times improvement in signal immunity versus standard FFCS, making Maxfield comparable to coaxial cabling. The immunity is provided by the parallel geometry, which means the connectors are immune to interference too, in a way that's not possible with twisted pair cables. So-called low frequency magnetic fields can be problematic in small signal and log applications, particularly with remote sensors and high immunity requirements. Conventional shielding is less effective due to the skin effect, so the system design and interconnections are even more important to achieving top performance. Coaxial cables are initially appealing to solve interference problems, but restrict the system design and are expensive too. They can only be used with unbalanced signalling and the terminations are bulky and often require slow manual assembly. Twisted pair cabling improves upon plain wiring by using balanced signals, and the twisting attempts to expose both to interference equally. However, the performance in practice is compromised by the straight connectors and any imperfections in the build. Now for demonstration. This is a head-to-head demonstration of several cables in a simulated interference test. A signal generator and Balan provide a 40 Hertz half millivolt sine wave on the left of the cable. In the centre A20AMP turn air core coil provides an 800 Hertz magnetic field for interference. Finally, a differential amplifier picks up the remaining signal and it is displayed on the oscilloscope. There are four technologies under test, Standard Flat Flexible Cable, Shielded Twisted Pair, RG 58 Coaxial Cable and the same FC with Magical Technology. All four measure the same until the interference is switched on, after which the improvement made by Max Shield for the same cable is clear. Further lab testing at Syntax shows the benefit of actually brings to AFC a 50 times improvement in magnetic pickup while keeping all the benefits of flat, flexible cables. Max Shield has battened applications across a broad range of countries.
