We were tickled pink this past week with all of the LP-led traction trending in the news. Deployment volume in LP deals witnessed notable moves over the course of the past year as asset prices appreciated and market conditions ripened. Excitement lies ahead in our neck of the woods! I - Despite an overall disappointing fundraising year, secondaries funds that held final closes across all private asset classes hit $117.9bn, per Secondaries Investor data. In 2022, only $34bn was accumulated for secondaries strategies. There seems to be plenty of dry powder going around at the moment and more still to come as a number of big names are still out in the market raising big pots of money. More on this: https://lnkd.in/gqMA-55P II - The release of Lazard’s secondary stats further proved the power of the current market. Within their survey, participants expect that portfolio prices will continue to remain around 80-95%+ of NAV. Stabilizing macroeconomic conditions and the anticipation of exits are behind stronger pricing dynamics and seeing sellers and buyers find more common ground. GPs no longer take umbrage at investors wanting to sell out early. This acceptance among fund managers has allowed the market to flourish, Banner Ridge Partners, LP co-founder and managing partner Anthony Cusano, CFA recently shared. He also noted that since mega secondaries managers still control the majority of dry powder, there is plenty of space for niche players to excel. Investcorp agrees and is along for the ride. The PE firm’s GP stakes investment platform, Investcorp Strategic Capital Group, this week took a position as the secondary fund manager.
