The scam continues in Taiwan There is a TV ad by a so-called kiddie English school that airs occasionally in Taipei, Taiwan showing a young girl READING from a card a simple sentence in English supposedly proving her English-speaking skill. There are countless similar "schools" across Taiwan, as the one whose help-wanted ad appears on FB as seen Feb. 15, 2024, ostensibly training youngsters to speak English. They have been at it since the 1980s, so why is Taiwan still not brimming of English-fluent citizens? Because it is a racket preying on gullible parents who believe paying tuition to enroll darling John and Jane in such schools can turn kids into English speakers. They fail to see that a few hours of repeating simple English after the foreign teachers weekly to then return to a Chinese-speaking environment is akin being on a treadmill. Said schools do little but offer "great" jobs to marginally-employable foreigners, many of whom have no significant skills but mediocre command of English as mother tongue. One 30ish American guy who lived in our condo block years ago in Taipei confessed the English-teaching field is swimming with scammers, and that he worked in kitchens in NY City before arriving in Taiwan to "teach" English. Why is it a "great" job? Because you can shift into neutral on the job to use juvenile textbooks and techniques to mislead Taiwanese kids into believing they are "learning" English. The best part is said teachers are paid more than the minimum hourly wage in the west, or what most of them would be paid back home. #TheScamContinuesInTaiwan

A recent discussion during a meet between our PM and his Singaporean counterpart has sparked a fiery debate among many Malaysians. As reported by the STAR newspaper, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has requested Singapore "𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔, 𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚." Do you think this is the right solution to raising the standard of education in our country, especially in English language learning and teaching? How could we possibly do this better, instead of pooling (and possibly, allocating exorbitant funds) external talent? Full article can be found at the link below: https://lnkd.in/g2miWfQG

You are miserable and want to die because even if you work your whole life, you can never afford to buy a piece of land to live in ( because the price of houses and land is billions of times higher than your income ). You are depressed and exhausted because no matter what job you do, you can’t make enough money to raise your family and children. You are panicked because the truth is that life is completely horrible and difficult, not simple as you thought when you were still in school. You are scared and desperate because your job and income are unstable, and no matter how hard you try, the future of you and your family is only dark. You work hard from morning to night but still not enough to live because the cost of living is too high and expensive. If you are not properly oriented and learn foreign languages from an early age, you will have to live a miserable, sad and hopeless life that you can never escape. English courses from a young age at Mr Chuong English Center will help students get a good job, high salary when proficient in English, Math and Japanese.
