NAHJ Career Center New Job Deputy Managing Editor: Durham, North Carolina The Assembly NC The Assembly is seeking an experienced editor who can help lead and organize our growing newsroom. This person will report to our managing editor and work closely with editors and reporters across the newsroom. We are looking for a dynamic journalist who enjoys wearing multiple hats – including story editing, newsletter writing, layout and CMS management, and audience engagement. We want someone who is excited not just about making our reporting shine, but about contributing to our strategy and growth in 2024 and beyond. This person should be excited to work in an ambitious news startup serving the state of North Carolina.   The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience in journalism, including time spent as both a reporter and editor. Experience working in North Carolina is a plus but not required; we will need the person to be located in the state when the job starts. Responsibilities * Story editing, including features, investigations, and shorter news items * Story layout and CMS management * Writing and editing newsletters * Working across teams to produce and optimize editorial products, including website, newsletters, print magazine, and social media * Collaborating with reporters and editors on story ideas and execution  * Helping plan and launch new newsletters, news products, and reader engagement initiatives Salary and Benefits Starting salary will begin around $80,000; we are open to higher salaries for more experienced candidates. Journalists taking exec roles on marketing teams isn't new, but if LinkedIn would make the data available, I’d put a lot of money on the fact that there are way more jobs targeting journalists today then 5 years ago. So, we're hiring for a Creative Copywriter (based in Vilnius). Just a tip: It's *creative* ... *copywriting*. Normally, we don't care much about cover letters. They're nice when you get them, and if they're saying something (usually they're meaningless) -- but by itself it isn't absolutely necessary. But if you're applying for a creative copywriter position -- understand that we're gonna read the copy in your cover letter and resume/CV as part of your creative...copywriting skills. And if you want to show what you can do, I'd probably go ahead and do a cover letter and be...creative...in getting the message across. Just a thought. #copywriting #career #creativity
