Accidents most often don't call for attention before it happens. it's a sudden, unplanned and unwanted event. To prevent such, a robust Job risk assessment has to be conducted together with the performing and operating authorities including all personnel involved in the operation to assess and vividly understand the hazards and mitigation measures to be put in place to prevent accidents.
Accidents are predictable.

When using a Manlift on live roads, ensure clear signage and barriers to alert drivers. Assign a spotter to guide the Manlift operator. Maintain a safe distance from moving traffic. Utilize high-visibility clothing and caution lights. Regularly communicate and coordinate with traffic control personnel for smooth operations and vehicle safety.
When we're angry, we're more likely to take risks. On the road this can mean poor judgement and being in high-risk situations that could result in a crash. For professional drivers, road stress is something dealt with every day as part of the work environment. A culture within workplaces that supports drivers is crucial, and 'Anger' is the focus of the National Road Safety Partnership Program - NRSPP heavy vehicle toolbox talk for August.
Working on this topic helped me reflect on the pressures of driving more generally, and how our road-centric lifestyle contributes to the stresses in our lives.
The Heavy Vehicle Toolbox project includes a complete set of more than 20 workplace resources for organisations. To access these resources, go to the NRSPP website: nrspp.org.au
