New discoveries are being drilled from Static MT geophysical data, specifically deploying the Omega MT Ultra Wideband technology. Static Magnetotellurics, aka ground MT with a Full Tensor configuration, offers enhanced imagery with the added dimension of significantly deeper depth of investigation. Investigations can reach 100 km or more; however, for realistic economic exploration and exploitation, depths of up to 3 km are of most interest.
With ground MT imaging, contact and sensor orientation is ideal and sensors can be set up precisely and with stability for measurement. It's an advanced targeting regime as compared with moving methods. When targeting and accuracy of targets for drilling are key, ground geophysics performs.
In the image below, we see one of Simcoe's field crews setting up a precision Omega MT station with Full Tensor configuration, the resulting Resistivity values are precise with optimal definition of targets from near surface to deeper depths with wideband coverage across almost the complete depth (i.e. Ultra Wideband frequency) spectrum.
To leverage MT in your exploration project, visit SimcoeGeoscience.com or speak with our Principal and Team Leaders at the PDAC conference in Toronto starting Sunday March 3. We are in booth 616 for the conference and would be delighted to chat with you about your MT and other ground geophysical targeting.
