Starting a multi-million software start-up @ 22 years old taught me this... 1. Build what your customers need, not what they want. 2. People support successful things because there is little-to-no reputational risk. If people don't support you right away, it's okay. Just part of the game. 3. Talking to users is the #1 thing you need to do. I've done over 100+ hours of user feedback, cancelled-user roast sessions, and power hours, to learn the core of what people need. 4. Growth is not linear. It's more of a stair-step between "Everything sucks" and "I'm a genius" 5. Consistency is key. Continual effort each day in small amounts compounds into being lightyears ahead of competition. 6. Whenever someone gives you an idea, lose about 40% of it and build the core of what they're asking for. Cut the bells & whistles. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT >>> Leaders take responsibility, give credit, and get out of the way. Stay tuned for more from this first-time founder from Iowa.

"We don't want to become like those companies," he said... " That only released things after spending a long time working on them." This manager had the strange idea that quickly throwing out code was a sign of being productive. So we were always releasing code but it was riddled with tech debt and hardly ever worked properly. Thankfully my current company insists that you take the time to think about what you are doing and do it properly. Do it once, do it right. #softwareengineering #softwaredevelopment

When it comes to professionals taking time off, "notify" and "acknowledge" is a better policy than requiring people to make a time off "request". The concept is simple: employees notify their team about their planned time off, and managers acknowledge it—no requests are necessary. And how employees spend their time off shouldn't even have to be divulged (so don't ask) —be it doctor's appointments, beach time, spending time with family, traveling, unwinding at home, or working on a side hustle, it's their time to do what they want which is an actual Independence Day. (See what I did there?) The only downside to such a policy is higher job satisfaction, increased productivity, and a more engaged workforce. 😉 https://lnkd.in/gQnaxkFd

I don’t know if what I am about to say is normal in business or weird because I am a software engineer, who is presumably not good at business. But what I want to say is that I don’t compete with anyone, everyone is extremely welcome to use our products, everyone I mean including the direct competitors. I couldn’t imagine there is only one supermarket in town and they don’t buy from each other, I couldn’t imagine there is only one real estate agency in town and they don’t exchange sources of new postings from each other, I couldn’t imagining… Just like how we software engineers working at the same code base, I believe in that companies are working together to solve customer’s problems, and making money in order for sustainably solving problems and innovate to provide better services. I don’t see competition in here, only partnership in my eyes. So why can’t ‘competitors’ leverage my products to provide services of different flavors through existing or new Apps to their customers. I only seek to partner, not compete, and there are so many different ways to make both sides happy and profitable! Please contact if you have problems to solve, we are here to crack it for you. Please contact if you are competitors, let’s talk to partner. Everyone is welcome! There is no such thing as competitors in my vocabulary, only customers or partners.
