I had an interesting interaction with a company recently. They mentioned the typical internal process: “We are required to exhaust all avenues with internal recruiters, then get a business case approved to engage an external recruiter to fill a role.” My response! “Why wait until all other options are exhausted before bringing in external expertise to support your needs? With over 10 years of internal recruitment experience, we understand the process”. Company then say: “At this stage I can’t see that happening until next year so no immediate need” Me: “No problem”…. My take! Why wait until next year when you can start building relationships and laying the groundwork now? Effective recruitment isn’t just about filling an immediate need, it’s about having a strategy in place for tomorrow.
