Summer's been flying by!   From video shoots to attending a garden party, we've been enjoying the season while making a difference.   Our latest "Out and About" gif spotlights this, but it's more than just a highlight reel:   It represents our community's spirit of caring, action, and impact.   Each event, conversation, and connection reinforces our belief in the power of community collaboration.   But here's the real question:   How can your organization get involved in advancing our community?

🔍 This week’s gathering spotlight: One of my favorite gatherings of 2023 was leveraging Priya Parker's 15 toasts concept by teaming up with two of my favorite local nonprofits, The Village Institute and Convivir Colorado. Over dinner, each attendee shared a toast in honor of their migrant story. After dinner, MOTUS THEATER's improv troupe ‘played back’ people's stories. The power of storytelling was on full display and I couldn't have been more proud. 💡Lesson learned: The importance of intentional group agreements. When bringing a group together, it's a host's job to ensure psychological safety (especially when they're mostly strangers). At this event, we set agreements of “co-creating a safe and brave space” as well as “stories stay, learnings leave” (ie confidentiality). 💪YOUR TURN: what’s your favorite group agreement? Today's "Connecting Counties" event was a first - experimenting with the Group Photo app for Zoom, I think the "3rd time lucky" adage was about right! The purpose of the event is to get to know the attendees better and find out more about their personality, so, attendees were paired up and invited to ask each other the following questions and use the answers to introduce the other person, to the group. 1.      Describe your role/job as if you were talking to a 5 year old child 2.      What is your biggest achievement in business? 3.      What’s the best gif you’ve ever received? The answers to the first question were great – ranging from "juggling" and "giving gold stars to clients", to "getting extra pocket money"; we knew exactly what each did from those explanations! I enjoy these sessions immensely! I feel that I’ve known a number of the Catena Network members for many years now, but there’s still the opportunity to learn something new! Miranda Thomas shared something she’d not revealed before (we were sworn to secrecy!) and another person revealed that their best gift was a Derby County season ticket (they’ve remained anonymous for their own safety!) Just finished hosting a community event I founded for honoring community Heroes. For the past 9 years we have honored more than 200 people from a restaurant chef, hotel clerk to pediatrician. So many companies do not have any program or event for honoring those people in businesses in your community that too often go unrecognized. Are you filling your cup? Or are you filling your schedule? (There’s a big difference) 👀 I’ve learned that filling up my schedule with networking and social engagements doesn’t always satisfy my need for community. There have been times when deep, fulfilling community felt like a distant wish for me, and other times when it felt like an overflowing well. 👋 As humans, we’re MEANT to be in community. We’re pack animals. It’s not just something we WANT—it's something we NEED on a biological level. But we all know how it feels to have a full calendar of people filling up our time, but not necessarily filling our cup… You don’t just need people who fill the space. You need people who cherish you showing up just as you are. I’m curious—where are you on the spectrum of connection right now? 😬 "Wishing for more community that GETS me" OR 😍 "I have all the community I need, and it feels SO GOOD" Having true community means doing the scariest thing, which is showing up as your full self (whether you’re being messy, emotional, happy, silly… the FULL range). To start showing up as your full self more regularly, you might need to practice in a safe space where nonjudgmental connection is possible… a space that equally welcomes the tender stuff and the celebrations. ✨ Women’s Circle is a space to do just that ✨ In Women’s Circle, we practice a simple process—meditate, journal on a prompt, and share reflections with the group… ➡ but what you’re really doing is practicing showing up with whatever is on your heart, and you leave feeling seen, heard, and understood.
