Some people say, “Home is where the heart is,” so shouldn’t every aspect of your home be accessible and inclusive to your needs? At #SCI, accessibility is one of the core values of our mission. We take pride in the #resources and #services our Team Members provide to thousands of people in the community. We are thrilled by Pottery Barn’s work in creating a new accessible line that offers furniture for people with varying abilities. After becoming paralyzed, architect and designer Michael Graves focused his designs on “improving all people’s lives, regardless of age or physical ability.” Now, the Michael Graves design team works hard to uphold his legacy and is proud to partner with potterybarn. “It really became our mission to become the most accessible design brand,” said Rob Van Varick, Chief Design Officer at Michael Graves Design. Lifestyle Architect & Interior Designer. Creating homes that elevate your everyday. From bedrooms that inspire more play to kitchens that ignite the inner chef. Ready to up the ante in your daily routine? Let's connect.
What does your home say about you? You can tell a lot about people by how they adorn or neglect their spaces. From the quality of craftsmanship in the furniture you choose to the books you collect, everything tells a story. It reveals whether or not you're holding on to things that don't serve you. It showcases if you appreciate the quality or if anything will do. It indicates if you live in a space vacant of you. A home that's overtly feminine or masculine and lacks the energy of two is an indicator that you're in a one-sided relationship and your needs aren't considered. Or that you've allowed your partner to do the design based on the education of HGTV. Homes often tell a story of a dated past that no longer reflects who you are today, throwing away the potential to inspire you to embody who you wish to become tomorrow. So the big question is if your home is not in alignment you and lacks the ability tonnurtire and inspire you everyday, what are you going to do about it? #interiordesign #levelup #ceolifestyle

Lighter days ahead ☀️ For those moments in life that deserve a little illumination, no one does it better than @nickeykehoe. 1. Flowerpot Table Lamp, Mustard | A mid-century icon, this avant-garde style made famous by Verner Panton is comprised of simple semi-circles—a basic, but groundbreaking design that appeals across generations. 2. Alix Soubiran Palo Lamp | LA-based French artist (and self-taught ceramicist) Alix Soubiran expertly crafts one-of-a-kind pieces that honor her love of traditional craftsmanship. 3. Small Dome Lamp, Smoke | Modern design meets the imperfect beauty of wabi-sabi principles. It's the perfect piece to complete any vignette with a soft, subtle warmth. 4. Alfred Newall Bobbin Lamp, Blue | Whimsical elegance, with a nod to tradition. Need we say more? XKED

The Founder of The Official Science in Design Certification Program. Founder, Speaker, Publisher. We are changing the future of the interior design industry.
"Aesthetics is not a luxury, but a universal human desire. Human beings do not wait until they have full stomachs and a roof that doesn't leak. They do not pursue aesthetic needs only when basic needs have been satisfied...people enrich the look and feel of their lives through ritual, personal adornment and decorated objects." Virginia Postrel The NEED for aesthetic experiences is hard-wired in our DNA. We don't have a choice. We have lived throughout the millennia because beauty and aesthetics helped us survive. By creating beauty in design, designers provide a fundamental need in life. Scienceindesign.com #design #interiordesign #biophilicdesign #fractal #scienceindesignofficial #neuroaesthethics #biophilia
