This is a great article emphasising the importance of scope 3 reporting, albeit on a voluntary basis in many jurisdictions, whereas I don't like the concept of 'voluntary' for issues that are as critical as sustainability; markets and people have to be comfortable with what is trying to be achieved. Data in the right format, quantity, and quality is essential to achieving effective and sustainable supply chain management. Thoughts.

We hear a lot about data. Many leaders say they don’t want to use sustainability data in their workflows or scenario planning because it’s not high enough quality. And LLM won’t work well if the data used to train the model isn’t great. If data is the sticking point to move the needle on sustainability - or anything, really, how do we make progress? This article says that one in four organizations have over 50 data silos. I’ve seen supply chains that have at least 50 themselves….!! Early in my career I earned a six sigma belt and later I was trained in problem solving by some of the Danaher greats. Getting the right data to even write a problem statement was a challenge! How are you solving data challenges in seeking to change process and improve performance? #supplychain #innovation #processimprovement https://lnkd.in/eMyrYNar

that mfg operations guy building the underdog's playbook | i help manufacturers establish sustained flow through its people, process, and technology... in that order!
i've found that it's really about setting an intention and being disciplined about sustaining the data collection AND their analysis. too many organizations collect data w/ the justification that they'll do something w/ it later. 3, 5, 7 years go by, and the poor individual assigned to analyze the data now has to make a decision: 1. spend hours trying to make sense of the data, clean it, then hope the extrapolations hold up against the broader market 2. decide to scrap the entire dataset and rebuild from scratch in either case, the organization is held up against many cardinal wastes of lean manufacturing — surely, overprocessing stands at the very top. when will we, as an industry; learn to truly do things right, the first time? —☁️ hey, i'm allen! i'm building the underdog's playbook. i've failed so you don't have to. #manufacturing #operations #respectforpeople what are you doing as a leader to put a stop to non-value added activities? would love to continue the conversation in the comments. it'll make my day, 🙏🏼!

Article: A supply chain view of sustainability management https://lnkd.in/gECq4XfQ Came across this and thought worth sharing - showcases importance of a multi-stakeholder approach is to better supply chain management, and addressing sustainability imperatives. Put simply: The first step in any supply chain improvement should be asking: Who needs to see what information, and can they see it when they need to? Can they trust the data they're working with, or do their hands continue firmly gripping the control stick (e.g. their tried & true ... but horrifically inefficient and accident-prone manual processes) even when autopilot is switched on? Many underestimate how complex and chaotic supply chains can be, especially now with little pockets of AI creeping in and making decisions that don't consider enough factors, simply because the data associated with those factors isn't visible or available. #supplychainvisibility #supplychaintransformation #FMCG #digitalprocurement

How does a company show their customers their commitment to sustainability? One of the ways is by pursuing and attaining widely recognized sustainability certifications.
Chemical Engineer Turned Sustainability Manager | Helping Professionals Thrive in Sustainability | Mastering Green Skills & Personal Branding through Digital Tools
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐌𝐲 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🧪 🏷 When I was studying chemical engineering, I spent hours staring at the periodic table. Each element, with its own properties and significance, helped me make sense of the world. This week, I found myself looking at another kind of periodic table—this time, one focused on sustainability certifications. And suddenly, it clicked: just like the elements, each certification plays a crucial role in building a sustainable future. As businesses face a new wave of regulations, particularly with the 𝐄𝐔’𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 and the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐄𝐔𝐃𝐑), sustainability certifications are no longer optional—they are essential. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫: 1️⃣ 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲 Sustainability certifications simplify compliance with emerging regulations. For example, certified palm oil can ease the regulatory burden for businesses under the EUDR. 2️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 86% of EU consumers demand more transparency about product durability. Certifications provide the proof that builds trust and loyalty. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭: 🔍 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 Ensure every claim is backed by credible evidence, ready for the scrutiny of new verification systems. 🌟 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Certifications will soon be mandatory. Align your products with those recognized by your industry. 🛠 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 Sustainability is more than a trend—it’s the future. Build it into your product development pipeline, from sourcing to packaging. The Bottom Line? In 2024, transparency and sustainability are non-negotiable. Businesses that prioritize certifications not only comply with regulations but position themselves as leaders in the market. What certifications are you using in your business strategy? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🗣️ ♻️ If you found this useful, 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 to share these insights with your network. 🔗 Follow Zyad Hatquai for more tips for sustainability professionals.
