Quote expectations? 🤔 Following a recent survey with 500 FM's, the insights we received was very interesting, I suppose there is granular detail we can explore here but that being said, would I be happy getting quotes within 3-5 days or even within 10 days for a critical issue on a life safety system? I wouldn't for sure! 🤯 Fire safety systems are critical for protecting lives and property. Any defects or malfunctions in these systems can pose significant risks in the event of a fire. Timely repairs or replacements ensure that the system remains fully functional and capable of responding effectively to emergencies 🧯 One of my favourite features within Uptick - Fire & Security Software is for the ability for engineers to provide defect draft quotations whilst on site, providing crucial information on part information which enables the team in the office to submit a quote in a much quicker fashion, whilst giving the client a very simple way of approving electronically through an approval link or their client portal ✅ Fancy comparing workflows with me? Drop me a message - game changing! 💪🏽 #fireandsecurity #jobmanagement #defectquoting #compliance

Active or passive: the most effective approach to fire safety combines the two Fire safety can be approached in two ways: active and passive. An active fire-safety system is responsive – it aims to detect and stop fire. Passive fire protection is typically part of the fabric of the building and intended to maintain compartmentation and ensure containment of fire and smoke. The most effective fire safety systems combine active and passive assets, protecting people and property as comprehensively as possible. Active fire safety systems Active fire safety systems can be automatic – for example, smoke from a fire will trigger a smoke alarm or heat from a fire will trigger a sprinkler system at a certain temperature. Alternatively, they can be manually controlled, such as a fire extinguisher. Other active fire safety systems are: public address voice alarms, which can play pre-recorded messages telling people how to act, where to exit a building and where to gather outside; a disabled refuge area is a safe, temporary waiting area where disabled or mobility impaired people can gather while waiting to be evacuated from the building. Passive fire safety systems Passive fire protection is built into the structure of a building and prevents the spread of fire without additional intervention. Some systems such as smoke dampers also control the movement of smoke to assist in creating a safe exit route out of the building. Passive fire safety systems include: · Compartmentation and firestopping · Internal fire doors · Fire curtains · Fire and smoke dampers Fire detection and fire suppression systems, such as fire alarms, sprinklers and fire extinguishers, are highly visible in buildings and their function and effectiveness are well known. Passive fire systems, including fire compartmentation, fire and smoke dampers, fire curtains and cavity barriers are less visible or even completely concealed. Perhaps as a result, their maintenance is often further down the list of priorities for duty holders. However, the effectiveness of a building's fire safety strategy depends on a comprehensive and well-maintained combination of these systems. The failure of just one of these systems as a result of lapsed testing could be extremely damaging in the event of a fire. It could also lead to legal consequences: employers who haven’t ensured their buildings meet the required safety standards and regulations could face fines, legal action and suffer reputational damage.
