This post is simply a statement of my own personal opinion and the views expressed within it are mine and mine alone. Apologies in advance for grammar and errors of punctuation. I am a famously bad one finger texter. If this topic is something you care little about please feel free to skip it for lighter reading. As a Lifetime Supporting Member of the Veterans of Foriegn Wars (VFW), a Lifetime Member of the American Legion (TAL), a Lifetime Member of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), a Lifetime Member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), a Founding Member of The MOAA Heritage Society , a Founding Member of the National Museum of the U.S. Army and a Member of the Army Historical Foundation (AHF), you can probably imagine that the ever increasing problems facing America's military veterans today is an issue that is always near to my heart and always close to mind. From the increasing epidemic of homelessness for our Nation's veterans, the dark tide of verteran suicides, the problem of increasingly isolated, lonely, and emotionally vulnerable aging veteran shut-ins, the increasing numbers of vets using soup kitchens and local food pantries for their daily sustenance due to the ever present combination of hunger and a lack of money to buy the food they need to live. These are just a few examples of the issues that too many of America's veterans are facing. These are perhaps the easiest problems see sittingvast they do upon the top of a growing iceberg of issues and concerns that our country's veterans have been facing in ever greater numbers since the Korean War ended in a treaty stalemate back on 1953. Unfortunately, our soundbyte-loving, short attention span society continues to pay scant attention to these issues, leaving it up to Congress, the VA, and Veterans Advocacy Organizations to somehow magically fix what has become a multi-generational nationally endemic problem. So take a good look at the post below from the VFW. Partisan politics in what has become the most divided Congress this country has seen since the eve of the American Civil War can't or won't even try to seriously get their collective crap together to govern cooperatively instead of using political machinations like a procedurally generated moratoriums to put a grinding halt on all Congressionally approved promotions required for the Senior Officer Corps of every branch of Service. By so doing they have yet again proven to be reckless in a time of very high global tensions, multiple regional wars raging around the world, and an unparalleled shift in the balance of power that has existed the last 50 years due to unprecedented Chinese spending on military force expansion to put our entire Strategic National Security at risk for short term point-scoring. How on earth can anyone up on Capitol Hill truly expect anyone to put much trust or hope into the too leaky a vessel that Congress has become?

“The history of the Palestine conflict spans over at least 27,287 days (from March 23, 1949, to the present). This prolonged period has witnessed a multitude of root causes and consequences, including policy failures, vested interests, and covert operations. These factors have tragically led to the displacement, suffering, and dehumanization of millions of innocent civilians, including children. Thousands of innocent people have died without any justifiable reason. These are undeniable facts, shaped by a history of flawed policies, strategic missteps, and ill intentions. However, the manipulation of these realities by various media outlets, political figures, and agencies has further complicated the situation, casting a shadow of confusion and misunderstanding over public opinion. It is crucial to acknowledge these atrocities for what they are, regardless of one’s affiliations or ideological leanings. They are humanitarian crises that demand immediate cessation. It is important to recognize and affirm that both the Jewish community worldwide and the Palestinian people inherently deserve to live in peace, with dignity, freedom, and security. No individual or group should be deprived of these fundamental rights. The responsibility now falls on us, the global community, to critically evaluate and challenge the failed policies that have perpetuated this conflict. Change is only possible when facts are brought to light by courageous individuals like Josh Paul, who dare to take a stand. Their efforts can guide us towards a more informed and humane approach to resolving this enduring conflict.”
"October 7th was an atrocity... October 6th was an atrocity, too. And I think the really important thing we need to do is to not only say there can never be another October 7th, but also there can never be another October 6th." I was honored to sit down last week with Dania Akkad and Middle East Eye to discuss U.S. arms transfers and the current conflict in Gaza. In our wide-ranging conversation we also touched on how Henry Kissinger's legacy continues to hang heavily over current U.S. foreign policy, why a departure from our values is so deeply damaging to American and Western interests, and why a visit to the 9/11 Memorial in New York underlined for me the importance of human connection that is so often absent in Washington D.C. policymaking. Patriot Day. HOW TO HONOR PATRIOT DAY 1. Attend a Patriot Day ceremony If you live close enough to an area where you can attend a ceremony, it’s one of the best ways to honor those impacted. You’ll partake in a moment of silence with everyone else and hear stories about people who lost their lives, families, emergency workers, and more. 2. Visit a memorial If a ceremony isn’t for you, there are also a ton of memorials where you can silently and independently walk through to honor in your own, private way. Many show the real stories and names of people who were killed in the incident. 3. Participate in a moment of silence Although the most recognized moment of silence is when the first plane crashed into the first tower at 8:46 am Eastern Daylight Time, there are a few other times where people take a moment of silence, such as when the other planes crashed and when the first tower fell. These times are at 9:03 am, 9:37 am, 9:59 am, 10:03 am, and 10:28 am.

Future #Defence decisions being focused by #Labour - according to the #DailyTelegraph "Sir Keir has committed to a Strategic Defence Review, and this might be the most valuable decision he has or will make on defence. What should be in sharp focus now is Russia and more particularly Vladimir Putin as the threat we must face down The last such review took place before the invasion of Ukraine and on the back of 20-plus years of counter-insurgency warfare". #Discuss: What should be part of this #Review by the incoming #Labour #Government if they are to satisfy NATO and the wider demands of global defence challenges. https://lnkd.in/eaZbQ6WG
