Have a look at HRCI - Health Research Charities Ireland's 2023 annual report! It's really interesting, I promise! It describes all the things we got up to in 2023. If you want to know what the burning issues were in Irish health research in 2023, this is the report to read.
We're excited to share our 2023 Annual Report https://lnkd.in/eEU6W3EH, highlighting a year of impactful health research activities in Ireland. While HRCI has always maintained a focus on Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in a broad sense, it has become increasingly evident that a specific emphasis on the involvement of charities, such as our member organisations, in research requires additional consideration. In collaboration with the PPI Ignite Network, we created a guide for charity-researcher partnerships, sparking ongoing important discussions. Our Irish Health Research Forum events on research ethics and biobanking drew full attendance and produced valuable recommendations. We also hosted an event on patient registries in partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Ireland and developed a guide for establishing and maintaining these registries. In 2023, we partnered with Dr. Nicola Mountford and the HRB to research the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme, providing key insights into patient-focused research funding. As we crafted our new strategy for 2024-2027, our dedicated team and board worked to ensure it aligns with our members’ needs. We bid farewell to Suzanne McCormack as HRCI Chair and welcome Brian Lynch as the new Chair of our Board. We look forward to continuing our mission together. Thank you to all our partners, members, directors, and staff for your support. Read more in our annual report https://lnkd.in/eEU6W3EH #HealthResearchMatters

🚉 Are you standing on the right platform? 🚉 💂 Last week at #COGUK was fantastic, but what stands out is the universally excellent feedback on how good the agenda was (kudos David Jones). 🧠 And it confirmed to us one of the central pillars of the entire #COGSeries: agenda quality sets the tone for the event. 🎙️ In London last week we gave a content platform to speakers from big pharma, small biotech, CROs, FSPs, sites, patient groups, charities, healthcare, and even a sitting MP squeezing us in between house debates – that’s everyone who has a stake in the UK clinical research market. ❓And what did that mean? That meant we had an audience that were thoroughly engaged, and in the room to make improvements both to their work and to the lives of the patients their work ultimately reaches. 🤝 And that audience, because they were stimulated by the very best in agenda content, had in-depth and meaningful conversations with our top-tier group of solution and service provides. 🤷♂️ So what are we getting at here? 👊 Agenda quality is *CENTRAL* to your return-on-investment at conferences. Weak agenda = low quality audience = poorly engaged delegates = mediocre conversations = no follow ups in your pipeline. 👀 So next time you’re looking at an event agenda, ask yourself if it’s going to bring you the kind of conversations you want to have with prospective clients. 📥 And get in touch, because the #COGSeries agendas deliver. #clinicaltrials #clinicalresearch

🌏 At Gattefossé, we act directly in the territories where we operate and source our raw materials, such as in Indonesia. Since 2022, with other companies, we have been providing financial support to Kaleka's Mosaik initiative through Action for Sustainable Derivatives' Impact Fund. This project aids indigenous communities in two of the largest palm-producing districts in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. 🌿 This Impact Fund helps to protect and restore landscapes, improve the lives of workers and communities, meet the needs of smallholders for responsible practices, and help communities adopt and scale models of regenerative agriculture. 🌱 Some results in 2023: 👉 610 farmers have been certified by RSPO and 204 farmers in two villages have been involved in the certification process. 👉 2,732 ha of forest in two villages have been protected through the Social Forestry and Village Regulation schemes. 👉 100 ha of dregaded land in three villages have been replanted. 👉 One village provided with alternatives to promote fire-free agricultural practices Supporting this actions illustrate our commitment to a responsible approach around the raw material that we source and the local communities. Today, more than ever, companies have a role to play in the communities around them. We all have a duty to contribute to the common good, and to implement responsible practices throughout the value chain of our products. This environmental philanthropy initiative is at the heart of our CSR roadmap, Gatt’Up&Act. 💚 #Environment #Communities #CSR #Gattefossé #ASD https://lnkd.in/d8NapQG4
Today, we're reflecting on two years since the Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) Impact Fund kick started its support for the Kaleka Mosaik Initiative. 📚 Recognising the Critical Trend: Analysing the decline in organ donation rates unveils a concerning trajectory. From 3.3 organs per deceased donor in 2018, we've witnessed a decrease to 2.8 organs per donor in 2022. This translates to a substantial reduction in lives saved, from 1822 to 1224, despite an increase in the availability of viable organs. 🌐 Amidst these trends, it is imperative to scrutinise the organisational dynamics, including leadership. The consistent presence of the OTA CEO during this period invites a closer examination of the factors contributing to this decline. 🔍, Let’s engage in constructive dialogue on optimising organ donation processes, ensuring a sustainable future. Advocacy, research, and strategic initiatives are integral components to reverse this trend and enhance the impact of organ donations on the lives of those in need. 🫀💼 https://lnkd.in/g7ADqa2N Anne Ruston Australian Organ and Tissue Authority Gerardine (Ged) Kearney #OrganDonationAnalysis #LeadershipEvaluation
