📢 We stand with Disabled People-Led Organisations and urge the Scottish Government to prioritise the rights and needs of disabled people. The time for action is now, and that's why we are supporting the #DisabledPeopleDemandJustice campaign. There are three critical asks that must be addressed: 💷 Ensure a fair income for disabled people to combat rising costs and inequalities. 🔓 Guarantee accessible and high-quality social care so disabled people can live independently and with dignity. 🛡 Create accessible communities by removing barriers in housing, transport, and public services. 🔍 Read more about these key demands here: https://lnkd.in/eGqjxssF ✊ Join us in calling for justice and equality for all disabled people in Scotland. #Scotland #Equality #DisabledPeopleDemandJustice Inclusion Scotland #DisabilityEqualityScotland #DPOs #GlasgowDisabilityAlliance

When in Spain recently I noticed a shift in diversity knowledge. The word in Spanish for disabled is ‘incapacitado’ or in other words incapacitated. I recently saw a sign for an accessible parking spot and they used the term ‘DIVERSIDAD FUNCIONAL’ which means functional diversity. It is so nice to see the advancements of Inclusion and the diverse population being represented in simple things like a parking sign means so much to me. It shows me that the world is starting to recognise and respect people as individuals. we are all diverse but when it comes to disability, we get discriminated against so often and have so in the past that disabled people become ablest without knowing it because that is what we have always known. People like Mik Scarlet Kate Nash OBE 💜 Simon Minty Barbara Lisicki Toby Mildon Rick Williams CFCIPD Phil Friend Samantha Renke PGCE Tom Shakespeare and a whole host of respected and notable people which are too many to mention in this post, are changing the world in the right direction. Anybody who has taught the social model of disability and has changed one person’s view has made society a better place and they should be recognised and congratulated. I apologise if you weren’t mentioned in this post otherwise this would’ve turned into a full book because there are so many people who are making a difference for other people. #Disability #Disabled #Diversity #SocialModel #SocialModelDisability #ChangeTheWorld #Inclusion #InclusionMatters #NeuroDivergent #Impairment #SightImpaired #HearingImpaired #MakeTheWorldABetterPlace #Teaching #Advancement #RemovingBarriers #Education #Knowledge #LearningImpaired #LearningImpairment #Equality #EqualityMatters

ILO Global Business and Disability Network I am happy that I was a speaker at the 3rd African Business and Human Rights Forum at United Nations Nairobi. My key highlights are: 1. PWDs bring value and unique strengths to the workplace, so businesses should strive to be more inclusive. 2. Youths with disabilities should be at the forefront of business and innovative solutions tailored to the needs of people with disabilities. 3. There is ability in disability and the wider society should focus on the productivity and not the limitations that come with a disability. 4. Inclusion is costly but exclusion is more costly and businesses should strive to create conducive environments that have reasonable accommodation. inABLE Irene Mbari-Kirika, CPACC, O.G.W, GMAP Paul Agbai Srilakshmi Subramanyam Yetnebersh Nigussie Molla Lily Ronoh-Waweru

We are joining Disabled Peoples' Organisations and calling for the Scottish Government to prioritise the needs of disabled people in Scotland. Disabled young women face significant marginalisation and have been systematically failed by a lack of plans and actions to address poverty and inequalities in Scotland. In our most recent research report, we found that disabled young women are unable to cover the cost of living because of rising costs linked to their disability. Disabled young women are facing an unprecedented decline in living standards, an issue that will only continue to get worse without immediate intervention. Disabled young women feel they have been forgotten in Government priorities and plans. Now is the time to introduce inclusive policies that consider gender and disability together. At The Young Women’s Movement, we stand beside Disabled People Led Organisations to demand justice and equality for disabled people. Read about the three key asks here and join us to support: https://lnkd.in/eGqjxssF #DisabledPeopleDemandJustice
