There's a lot of talk about ESG these days, and while it's often associated with traditional sectors like energy and manufacturing, its applications in less obvious industries are equally transformative. - Finance: In the financial sector, ESG principles help investors assess long-term risks and opportunities. By evaluating companies based on environmental, social, and governance criteria, financial institutions can make more informed investment decisions and support sustainable business practices. - Fashion: The fashion industry, notorious for its environmental impact, is making strides with ESG initiatives. Brands are increasingly focusing on sustainable materials, ethical labor practices, and transparent supply chains to reduce their footprint and promote responsible consumption. - Hospitality: In hospitality, ESG principles are driving significant changes. Hotels and resorts are adopting energy-efficient technologies, reducing waste, and supporting local communities. These efforts not only enhance sustainability but also improve guest experiences and build stronger community relations. Integrating ESG into these diverse sectors demonstrates its wide-reaching impact and potential to drive positive change. Let's explore and embrace these principles to foster innovation and sustainability across all industries.

I have mixed views about the reported move by #Unilever to focus on 'rational #sustainability'. I'm biased, but for me, there is nothing irrational about sustainability. What's irrational about ensuring the world thrives? That said, too often businesses make false claims, or set unrealistic targets. Sometimes out of hope, often in a vain attempt to improve reputation. Backlash on #ESG continues to grow as a result. So with that in mind, I can see the logic on doing away with inflated plans and instead driving and delivering targeted but positive change. Better to do a few things well then lots of things badly.
