This afternoon, we hosted an online investment pitch event to mark the culmination of the Cosmic Capital Programme. Funded by the University of Surrey and the UK Space Agency, the programme aimed to help upstream and downstream space start-ups raise investment through specialist pitch training, investment strategy support, access to our online investment tool RAISE and building their investor networks. More than just a pitch event - it was an opportunity for investors in our network to provide feedback to the founders on their pitch and proposition - which will be hugely beneficial going forward with their investment journey. Today, we heard from: Sara Alão from Stars Edge which is developing a high manoeuvrability electrical propulsion system for small satellites utilising cost-effective, non-pollutant propellant. Varun Sarwal from Hammer Missions an AI software platform that helps engineers and surveyors inspect critical infrastructure using drones. Keval Dattani CEng from Space Power is developing on-demand laser charging payloads for spacecraft, enabling them to recharge in the dark to boost operations and access power in the dark. Stuart A. from Astro Dynamic Ltd an AI-powered platform that streamlines the complex sourcing and licensing processes of real-time access to Earth Observation space data. Kirthi K. from NetZero Protocol an AI combined Quantitative & Language Model anchored in real-world data, revealing every investment's true sustainability impact. 🌌🛰 In a field long dominated by U.S. giants like SpaceX, Europe is making moves to carve out its place in the cosmos. The Exploration Company, a young aerospace startup spanning Germany, France, and Italy, has raised an impressive $160 million in Series B funding to develop Nyx, its reusable space capsule. 📈 The goal? To create Europe’s first independent cargo delivery system for the International Space Station (ISS). The capsule, designed to carry up to 3,000 kilograms of cargo to and from Earth, represents a bold step toward European space autonomy. The funding round was led by Balderton Capital and Plural, alongside participation from major names like Bessemer Venture Partners, NGP Capital, and sovereign funds such as French Tech Souveraineté and DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds. This brings the company’s total funding to $208 million, a strong financial backing for its ambitious plans. 🤖 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ewhaBsF3 #tech #funding #news #space #spacetech #spaceexploration #technology #VC #investment #innovation

Navigating through deep space is no easy task, especially with the increasing complexity due to traffic congestion and debris. Good thing we have innovation on our side. Today, I came across an interesting piece about how Dolan's research is making major strides in addressing these issues. It's amazing to see how innovation and technology can merge to find solutions to the challenges that look almost impossible. I’ve had the pleasure of managing complex projects for numerous top companies, and it’s always fascinating to watch different sectors advancing through similar principles of innovation. This breakthrough will not only give us more insights into space exploration but also help us apply similar strategies to other industries to deal with complex issues. #Innovation #SpaceExploration #ProjectManagement It's incredible to witness https://lnkd.in/eHiqZBjr
