The secret behind the ultimate taste 🍺 The way a beer tastes, is greatly influenced by the freshness of the beer. Keeping a beer fresh, is one of the biggest challenges for. There are many factors involved, all of which can have an impact. Oxygen - Our friend for breathing, but beer's worst enemy! Oxygen can turn your beer sour by allowing bacteria to transform alcohol into acetic acid. Breweries combat this by using CO₂ to flush out oxygen during packaging and employing innovative systems like one-way kegs and bag-in-tank to keep oxygen at bay. Light - Ever noticed how some beers come in green or brown bottles? That's because UV light can react with hops, changing the taste of your beer. The best solution? Keep beer out of the light altogether with cans, KeyKegs, and tank beer systems, ensuring it never loses that fresh flavor. Temperature - Just like Goldilocks, beer needs the temperature to be just right. Too hot or too cold, and the beer can age prematurely or develop off-flavors. The goal is to keep beer at a constant, cool temperature from the brewery to your fridge, which is a challenge but crucial for that perfect sip. Did you miss this? In this article from @craftbeerbrew explores the evolving concept of rusticity in American saison brewing, emphasizing it as an approach rather than a strict style. Seasoned brewers like Ale Apothecary's Paul Arney and Floodland Brewing's Adam Paysse discuss the diverse perspectives within the "third wave" of saison brewers, focusing on mixed-culture fermentation and the tangible texture associated with rusticity. Ingredients, like locally sourced grains, and brewing processes contribute to the beer's rustic character, allowing for a rich sensory experience reflective of place and time. 📉🍻There’s a notable decline in beer consumption. And the economy is the core driver of this drop in drinking. New data released by Statistics New Zealand shows that the demand for beer has experienced a notable decline in the island country. The volume of alcohol available for consumption for the year ending December 2023 was at a 15 year low. “The data reveals that the total volume of beer available for consumption decreased by 4.4 percent in 2023, following a modest rise of 0.5 percent in 2022," BrewsNews quotes Dylan Firth, Executive Director at Brewers Association. “The Brewers Association of New Zealand note the broader economic factors influencing beer consumption trends are multi-pronged, but a tight economic environment for consumer spending and increased operational costs are a core driver of this.” What does all this mean for craft beer in 2024? And what does this say about the current state of the brewing industry? In this video Raymond from KeyKeg shares his views on the notable shift in consumer preferences and market behaviour. And we can already reveal: it’s not all bad news for brewers. #brewing #brewers #beer #craftbeer #alcohol #KeyKeg #UniKeg

Berkeley Yeast Fresh strains make cleaner tasting beer that judges and beer drinkers prefer. Until now, brewers have relied on imperfect methods for reducing total diacetyl, a distracting off-flavor that can impact quality at even very low levels. Diacetyl rests are shortened, beer is packaged sooner, fewer forced tests are required, and above all, your customers will enjoy a beer that’s so fresh and so clean. -- Read their Fresh Chico story featuring North Park, Dust Bowl, Resident Culture, Riip, and Fireforge, and learn how these breweries are using Fresh Chico to give their GABF and WBC winning beers and edge. https://lnkd.in/gAxherWy #ad

🍺 ⭐ CAN BE DANGEROUS We've looked at beer review ratings in some of our posts and will continue to do so but we want to highlight the dangers of just taking these ratings at face value as there is a lot of things these don't show. They don't show that a beer may be a amazing on draft but not great in a bottle. Some beers vary in taste the further they travel from the brewery. If someone pays very little or a lot for a beer can also impact their perception of what they have purchased. The rating could also be impacted by someone who doesn't even like that style of beer. It's really important to remember what a rating does or doesn't tell you. This doesn't also include any follow up questions such as how likely are they to purchase a beer again, vital information for a brewery that may produce great beer but isn't going to sell many. This lack of depth and information really limits the usefulness for breweries and beer fans and we need to do better. At The Beer Explorers we're working on a new data collection that we can enhance and transform the data so the end user is getting the answer that is most beneficial to them. #beer #beeruk #siba #camra #brewery #breweries #beergeek #beerlovers #beerratings #data #insights #beerreviews #thebeerexplorers

Nowadays, all kinds of ingredients are being added to #beers and things are getting a bit confusing. For example, at a recent beer festival, my #brewery stand was between a #brewer who had used cucumber to brew his special beer and another who had infused green tea into his amber beer and some exotic fruits into his seasonal beer. My aim with this new post is to analyse beer ingredients and share my experience on traditional ones and those that can be classified as 'creative': https://lnkd.in/d77fvgmz #blog #switzerland #beerindustry #beernews #craftbeer #craftbrewing #blog #blogpost #blogger #foodblog #beerblog
