🔥 Hot take on whether or not to show BNPL options on your PDP: When shoppers land on your Product Details Page, they're deciding whether or not to buy your product - not how to pay for it. That's why it's important to remove distractions and reduce cognitive load at this stage, to encourage more add-to-carts - and eventually, more transactions. Recent a/b tests have proven that hiding BNPL options on PDPs can lead to more add-to-carts and transactions. In fact, we observed a 1.8% increase in add-to-cart rate on mobile and 1.7% on desktop in our most recent test. And, mobile transactions were up +1.3%. (Desktop transactions were also showing a lift, but were not statistically significant.) To maximize conversions, we recommend surfacing BNPL options like Klarna and Afterpay in the cart and checkout, where your visitors are thinking about how to pay. Are you currently using BNPL options? And if so, are you showing them on your PDP? Worse yet, are you showing them above your Add To Cart button?

Ever notice how the checkout line tempts you with last-minute buys? Retailers know visibility boosts sales. What if we applied this to personal finance by subtly placing saving or responsible spending options? Imagine getting savings prompts during everyday banking, just like impulse buys at the checkout. Like we are bombarded with options to convert purchases to EMIs or, the prompts to use card rewards to settle purchases? What if we tailored the visibility of "transacting with debit" options to resonate with an individual's financial goals and lifestyle? Saving/ debit card would become less of a transaction and more of a personally relevant decision aligned with one's short- and medium-term aspirations. How about we top it up with rewards like for using credit cards? There's so much we can do with placement (the modern-day embedding) to nudge consumers towards healthier financial habits. Making them not just accessible but irresistible, as instinctive as choosing that last-minute snack at the checkout.
