After watching “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,” it really got me thinking... Who will care for us when we’re old and disabled? Can we still live with dignity in our old age? Are we financially prepared for the challenges ahead as our bodies weaken? These questions are real, and they remind us how important early planning is for our future care. Let’s not wait until it’s too late—start planning for a secure and dignified old age now. #ElderlyCare #FinancialPlanning #AgingWithDignity #PrepareForTheFuture #OldAgeCare

I am glad the BBC are continuing to shed light on this issue. In Scotland many of the policies and strategies that exist to enable people with learning disabilities to live full and active lives as part of their communities are actually very good. However, the gulf between the policy intention and the reality of some people's lives is enormous. But we don't often hear about these things. Because as a country the data we collect on what is happening in people's lives is very poor, so we don't see it. It can be hard to get people excited about collecting better data, particularly when money is tight, as it is now. But the existence of the Dynamic Support Register means that we can see how many people are locked up in hospital when there is no medical reason for this. We can see whether the situation is improving, or, as seems to be the case, getting worse. It means we can keep such an important issue on the political agenda. And, hopefully, with enough pressure, it means we can create the impetus for real change, so that people with learning disabilities can live safe, loving, equal lives. https://lnkd.in/d2n-7vuA

A Call for Action: Today, I’ll be addressing Enfield Council and local leaders on the urgent need for stronger alliances to support young people leaving care. Our system is failing, and we cannot allow another generation to fall off the "care cliff," leading to a lifetime of suffering. As a care leaver and professional, I’ve seen firsthand the neglect and abandonment that result from political inaction. We have the resources to build lifelines—now we need the will to act. This is a moral and political responsibility we cannot ignore. #changeiscoming
