San Bernardino County, the largest U.S. county by landmass, is undergoing a green transformation with two key projects. 🌎 Frontier Communities, led by Andrew Wennerstrom, is crafting Vasari at Ventana, an 80-acre luxury community within Ventana at Duncan Canyon. This aligns with the rising demand for upscale housing, catering to remote professionals steering away from coastal cities. Concurrently, Clearway Energy Group invests $1 billion in a 394-MW solar array and battery storage system in Dagget near Barstow. This exemplifies the county's commitment to renewable energy, repurposing an old gas-fired plant. James Kelly, Clearway's senior director, underscores the seamless collaboration with county authorities, emphasizing state support. The project not only promotes a cleaner environment but also brings economic benefits, generating local jobs and fostering the shift to clean energy and storage. ALE applauds these sustainable initiatives, supporting a future where communities thrive on green energy solutions. We eagerly anticipate the greener future of San Bernardino County! 💚🔋 https://bit.ly/49sC5jY #CleanEnergyFuture #SustainableDevelopment #ALEsolutions

[ News from other projects🗞] Renovation and resilience go hand in hand 👷♀️🌱 💡 Renovating old homes can increase resilience to the impacts of climate change. An article by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency highlights how remote communities in Ireland can benefit from renovating their homes and the #LIFEProject that is helping them do so. The Local Energy Agencies for Peripheral Regions (LIFE LEAP) will help households in 3 Irish counties renovate their homes. The project will create 3 local energy agencies that will serve as one-stop-shops to ensure that homeowners have the opportunity to invest in making their homes warmer, cheaper to heat and more valuable. ‘’Prior to the start of the agency, there was no place for people to go to. Now people can come to us, and we can advise them on how to retrofit their homes. We will be able to work with homeowners to give them a pathway into the future to achieve a higher Building Energy Rating (BER), ” Paraic Barret, Manager at Gníomhaireacht Fuinnimh an Iarthar (GFI). 🔎 Read the article and find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/ex5-aUeE LIFE Programme #LIFEamplifiers

The game has changed for multifamily buildings. Gone are the days when slapping on some solar panels was enough to call your place "green." When a few energy-efficient upgrades could score some nice grants and green building certifications. When water-saving improvements often paid for themselves quickly. Now, cities are getting serious about SLASHING carbon emissions from buildings. Places like Reno, Denver, New York, and Boston are cracking down hard. New York, in particular, will start fining big property owners heavily if they don't cut energy use by 20% before 2030. So, if you own multifamily or single-unit apartment buildings, decarbonization must be priority #1. The good news is that switching your property to solar provides a fantastic way to decarbonize it, make it more eco-friendly, and STILL boost your income simultaneously—a total win-win. That's where it's all heading...

In celebration of NYC Climate Week, we’re spotlighting impactful climate projects with visionary clients in New York and nationwide. As climate change demands urgent action, HR&A’s Climate Practice is tackling financial barriers, improving community engagement, and addressing resource inequities to build more resilient, sustainable cities. As part of the Residential Retrofits for Energy Equity (R2E2) partnership, HR&A is proud to support the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Buildings Upgrade Prize (Buildings UP), helping scale energy retrofits in underserved communities. As a technical advisor, HR&A is working with teams nationwide to solve barriers to building upgrades in disadvantaged communities and low- and moderate-income households. By offering training, resources, and support on housing affordability, tenant protections, anti-displacement measures, housing finance and program design, we’re helping make homes more energy-efficient, affordable, and healthier for households across the country. We’re excited to continue to work with the R2E2 team comprised of The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Elevate, and Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) to jumpstart energy retrofit programs for both single family and multifamily low- to moderate-income housing. #ClimateAction #EnergyEquity #Decarbonization #AffordableHousing #BuildingUpgrades

💡 Mobile home co-ops: a solution for housing security and #climate resilience! As housing costs rise, residents are joining forces, buying the land beneath their homes, and forming resident-owned cooperatives (ROCs). This collective ownership model is booming, with over 15,000 ROCs nationwide. When residents own the land, they can swiftly upgrade infrastructure, making ROCs ideal for renewables like solar. 🌞 Kevin B. Jones, PhD, Director at the Institute for Energy and the Environment at the Vermont Law and Graduate School, notes that ROCs are perfect for bringing solar benefits to low- to moderate-income communities. 🌍 Discover how ROCs empower communities, reduce costs, and foster climate-friendly projects... #HousingSecurity #ClimateResilience #CommunityPower

How will building performance standards in U.S. cities affect affordable housing? It could push some property owners to raise rents if they don’t get more financial and technical assistance. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released a recent report that says affordable housing owners need more financial and technical assistance than they’re currently getting to comply with building performance standards like those in Denver and #boston. ACEEE’s report also revealed that a surprising number of affordable housing owners in #denver weren’t even aware of their city’s building performance standard policies. Wildflower, a sustainability infrastructure developer in New York, has been selected by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to assist in the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations planned for New York City (NYC). Under the proposed NYC EV proposal, approximately 65 EV charging stations will be installed by 2025, which will be available to the public 24/7. Out of the 65 proposed stations, about 12 of the stations will be DC fast charging stations. With the assistance from Wildflower, NYCEDC will work towards increasing the number of publicly available EV charging stations located in New York City that will further be utilized by regular and truck electric vehicles. With the installation of new EV charging stations in NYC, NYCEDC estimates the charging of up to 1,000 electric vehicles per year and the reduction of 78,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions by 2040. The latest NYC EV proposal follows the announcement of New York’s Green Economy Action Plan to promote a green economy via creating up to 400,000 jobs centered around green energy by 2040. #ElectricVehicle #EVInfastructure #EVCharging #DCFastCharging #GreenEconomy #GreenEnergy #CleanEnergy #NewYork #EVMapping #MAPSearch #ENvision
