Having access isn't or shouldn't be the same as being able to login. ZSP (zero standing privilege) is a strategy that limits access dynamically. Read my opinion and those of other Forbes Tech Council experts here.

I've had the opportunity to explore a few different SOC dashboard security solutions and one of the main fear factors in recommending these products is the alert monitoring and filtering. A hugely powerful tool that does have great potential benefit. However, a security framework and someone familiar with the framework is necessary to navigate these "user friendly environments" which can be a huge upfront cost when considering the already huge cost of implementing one of these solutions. Of course, we should definitely be moving with vigor towards self monitoring to enhance security of our critical infrastructure, but in a complicated world, I found this excerpt from Datadog helpful in building a simple framework to wrap my head around. "When determining which vulnerabilities to prioritize, organizations should adopt a framework that enables them to consistently evaluate issue severity. Generally, a vulnerability is more serious if: The impacted service is publicly exposed The vulnerability is running in production There is exploit code publicly available While other vulnerabilities might still carry risk, they should likely be addressed only after issues that meet these three criteria." While this seems pretty obvious, it can be easy to get lost in the clutter of severe alerts. Just keep your head on straight and focus on the obvious. At first anyways... https://lnkd.in/d6GWJebX
